I hope to purchase a digital camera around $60-$70 if possible. The last one bought was a Sony Cyber-shot DSC-S40. It was wonderful until it began malfunctioning a year later. It's cause is unknown. I need a standard "point-and-shoot" camera with quality video/photo capability. I haven't had a decent camera for a while, and could benefit from an updated piece of technology.

With your price range, it might not be possible to get a new modern camera with video. For a long time my "walk around camera" was the Canon Powershot A700. It's available used in that price range. About 6 megapixels, uses a quality Canon DIGIC II processor, has good auto focus, takes a very common SD card, and AA Batteries.

Stay away from Canon Powershots, the lens can be very delicate and the slightest bump to the lens makes it useless. I was so pissed off when I got it as a birthday present 24 hours later I had the camera in my pocket and pulled it out I guess I must of bumped it along some where. Lens never popped out and it kept shutting down with a warning that the lens was jammed. I was so upset I took it back and got a damn Kodak camera. I've dropped it, bumped it and it's still working.

I owned Canon Powershots for years and they perform outstanding! Picture quality can be as close to DSLR as they get depending on model and basic skills. It's hard to recommend any specific camera with your price range.

If there's any possibility you can increase your budget to $150-$200 you will see an absolute world of difference in camera durability and quality.

I bought a Canon Elph 130is about 4 months ago for $110 and it came with a Gorilla tripod. I had a $65 camera but it had no zoom. I would buy something a bit more expensive

I went to Youtube and looked up 'camera test' + camera brand for videos of the camera in action

I was recording some crows the other day and I thought "what am I going to do with this?" and I realized I could use it for a camera test video

Has it occurred to you that buying cheap shit (keyboards and heaters e.g.) because it's cheap is not economically defensible. Find a good camera priced within reason and buy it. If it's too expensive put it on layaway. But in 30 days don't tell us about your cheap ferkakta camera.

If it weren't for cheap shit, he'd have bupkis.

Do they still have layaway?

If you have bought from Ebay, you could buy a camera that is . . .
- new
- use 'buy it now' to avoid dealing with an auction (or slip your bid in at the last minute)
- use a seller with great feedback
- they arent sending from another continent
- check to make sure the postage required is not higher than it should be. Some people do that

and you could get a better camera than you might be able to at the store but you pay more when using the buy it now option

I have a trick about Ebay (that I learned from one of those Ebay kits) and finding out how to find the right price that a product should be going for . . .

I have a Canon PowerShot A590. I purchased it as a close-out special because the newer models were too thin for my clunky hands. It was under $100 and does everything I have asked of it:

We need a new camera, but all the ones I look at seem to have a lot of delay between clicking & actually capturing the picture.

With the Grandkids playing Soccer & Basketball we need one that takes a picture when you click it & has a 12 or better megapixels.

Any ideas how to find one (keywords) or know of a good one?
