In these parts (New Jersey) it's usually called a weed whacker.

I'd have understood that too, though the image of a guy wanking while smoking pot is also funny.

Soda is what we call it in the US. It is almost never called a carbonated beverage, although pop or soft drink is somewhat common. Soda is the most common.

That depends on the locaction of the USA. In western states, it's pop or soda/pop in the south it's soda/soda-pop or Coke in Atlanta (for all flavors). Northeast is Soda. Midwest is pop.

Also the style of T-shirt (which most basic t's are, is the 'ringer' style (though ringer ususally is reserved for off-color rings to rest of shirt).
