Don't tell him if you really think so... ITs not worth it if hes really that type of person.
 
Are you living on your own? Do you rely on him for support, like school, etc.?

If you are not self-supporting, you should wait until you are out on your own.

I don't think you should put yourself where he could cause you physical harm.
 
If you're truly afraid of bodily harm, don't tell him.

If you're not living at home and still want to tell him, bring a friend of confidant. Safety in numbers.
 
mclevain, if he cannot accept YOU, and if you really need for him to know, then that is simply the price of being yourself in the world. there are times when there are no magic bullets, and prices are paid. but, isn't it true, at present, your ties with him are not really truthful ones?

That's what all these threads do. They assume what others will do and make decisions based on assumptions. For God's sake, for your sake, tell him and what happens - that happens. And then live - from there.

Actually my father, no beacon of love, diversity, and openmindedness at all in the least, Mr Conservative with a negative comment on everything, was far, far, far more troubled that I am a White Sox fan and not a Cubs fan than he was that I am gay.

Don't decide what other people will do. Be yourself and let others be their own selves.

Then why would you even consider telling him? That doesn't sound very rational to me. Some people haven't earned respect, nor the right to know the truth, imo.
 
You could always tell him when it's not possible for him to physically assault you...
