  • Hi Guest - Did you know?
Hot Topics is a Safe for Work (SFW) forum.

What do you consider "cold"?

the carcass of a dead taun taun will keep you warm!

30 degrees with a wind chill will do it for me.

I will say this...Midwestern Winters can be very pretty. ..|
Pretty fuckin' cold...

:eek::eek::eek:

And just why didn't you?
Michigan rejected me (fuckers!) and Wisconsin-Madison's Comp Lit department is falling apart, and they have no funding for grad students. As it turns out, Chapel Hill was a very good choice, because the faculty here have been very great to work with, and I've gotten to teach some fun courses here. (Next fall I'm teaching "Sex, Revolutions, and Politics in French Literature.")

-11. It's the same in both scales. Brrr.

Or when the Bank clock gets stuck at -35.

About 10 years ago we had a cold snap that went on for two weeks or more, the HIGH for the day never went above Zero. That was the year all the water mains in town were freezing up, they are buried at LEAST 12 feet.

Which is yet another reason I'm spending this winter in Colorado.

I'm not converting my temperatures, too much math for me and too lazy to look for a converter online right now.

Generally, once it hits around -5, that's pretty bad...BUT only if there is a breeze accompanying it. It can be -10, but if there isn't wind then it can still be a nice day.

Anything below -15 is nuts though.

*braces himself for the coming Saskatchewan winter and the one day where it will hit -45, as per usual*

60's and 50's are wonderful.

Anything below those two... that's pushing it for me.

Right now at 7 PM it is 80. Last week it was 105 at this time. Piggy, please send me some of your pink padding. I freezing to death!!!(ww)

-11. It's the same in both scales. Brrr.

It's actually -40 where the temp is the same on both F and C scales.

I'm not too cold until it gets down to about -20F (i.e. -29C).

It does depend though, if the air is still i can handle 21.2 degrees F (-6 C) but if there is any wind my threshold for the cold suddenly drops to about 50 degrees F (10 degrees Celcius) and my fingers turn nice and purple as well as red. OH, the vast array of colours! :D
