  • Hi Guest - Did you know?
Hot Topics is a Safe for Work (SFW) forum.

What do you know about Wisconsin?

that's a tad ghoulish for a field trip if you ask me. :?

i can only imagine the products they sell at the gift shop.

I agree...

I wonder if students near Plainfield get a field trip to the place where Ed Gein's house was... CREEPY!

We took a field trip to an Al Capone hide out in middle school once...

Let's see ...

Wisconsin Falcons .... I have a pin badge with that on it.... funny how the little buggers get around isn't it. .... Obviously a sporting team ... probably American football.

It is near the Canadian border, separated by a big lake, that has slipped my mind without checking up on it.

Gets very cold in Winter.

A large percentage of the population are quite religious and quite conservative in their outlook.

The house numbers are quite large..... must have very long streets.

Most of the population know absolutely nothing about Australia ... except for the children who are taught by a former exchange teacher who was with us for 6 weeks a number of years ago.

Your troopers are the only ones I've seen so far using laser for speeders.

They're they only one's who've pulled beside me at 120mph and waved at me to slow down.

You use sand instead of salt on the roads.

Makajawan

Piggley Wiggley

Sand? I've never seen sand used in Milwaukee, always salt

I think you mean the Wisconsin Badgers. Only some of the colleges have Falcons as a mascot...

Lake Superior, the largest freshwater lake in the world.....|

Indeed

Really? I'm curious where you got this from...

Only in rural areas...

I got most of my Aussie info from Finding Nemo. :p

Actually, you'd be surprised. The University of Wisconsin offers a lot of travel abroad options, and most students choose Australia or the UK...

I've noticed that the Cheese, at the Cheese Shoppe in Maustin, WI is EXTREMELY GOOD...

I've also wondered why the people in that shoppe/diner have such a HARD TIME making a plain cheese sandwich...

They can't conceive the fact that SOME of us DON'T want MEAT on it...

AND -- it happens EVERY TIME I stop there...

:confused::confused::confused:

I also like the little town of Peshtigo...

Anyone on here been there???

:-):-):-)

And Gein was from Plainfield...

And Gacy's from Edgewater/Norwood Park. We got more psycho rapists, murderer than you! neenerneeenerneeeeeener!

What's funny is that I can't remember EVER meeting anyone in WI who actually talked like that. I only talk like that [intentionally] sometimes to mock what so many seem to think is the norm. No foolin' eh?
<snip>

I have encountered some whilst sailing.

When I'd call the air force base during football season, sometimes I'd get someone who'd answer "G-d bless the Packers..." Needless to say, I was less than pleased.

I've actually been to Peshtigo...

When I lived in Shawano, we went up there a few times...

BRING IT!

How many movies/books/etc. are based on Gacy's story? Huh? HUH?!

Umm, well, I saw a A&E special on Gacy.

So there :P

A couple of days ago I looked up your location "Heau Claire" in Google to find out where it was. Guess what? Google pointed me to one of your messages on JUB. Well I still didn't know where it was so then I looked at your profile and discovered Wisconsin. Surprise! I thought it was going to be European. OK, I don't know Wisconsin geography. Sorry. Then I went back to Google and discovered the city is really "Eau Claire" instead of "Heau Claire" like what you show. So question? Why do you call it "Heau" when apparently it is really "Eau"? What's with the "H"?

Eau Claire is pronounced O Claire, and I frequently call it Ho Claire, and I thought it'd be kind of clever to put Heau instead of Ho

Should I go back to "The REAL EauC?" That one seems a little dated, though...

^

They have lights on them!

Only during the holiday season, of course...

There are 72 counties in the state. I've been to 52 of them.

Well I've been to all 72 of them lol. (I've been to all of the counties in 42 states now.)

Wisconsin VOTED AGAINST statehood three times, before finally becoming a state in the 1840's.

Also if you live in Wisconsin and you're 18 years old, you can own a bar and you can own the liquor license for it, but you cannot drink in your own bar until you're 21.

You gotta admit, that Ford "Interceptor" engine is pretty damned impressive!
