What do you order at Starbucks?

Oh I miss Starbucks. When I was living in a civilized city I would always order myself a Venti Matcha Latte. It's always just perfect.

Where would we indie coffeeshops be without Starbucks? Thanks to them for all they did.

That said, I go for GOOD coffee at other places.

Short quad Americano or doppio in ceramic, mostly drink homebrew and indie.

I've given up on most of the indie coffeeshops in my neighborhood (yup, in Portland) because....they never have coffee brewed. :##: Seriously, I've stopped patronizing two separate businesses (selling Stumptown) because these coffeeshops don't have coffee ready on a regular basis.

Now, I know why they don't have coffee ready, and it's for a noble reason: the freshness of the brew. We want to drink coffee that has been recently ground and roasted and even more recently brewed, best of all to order somehow, though airpots are arguably acceptable. Still, I demand a modicum of convenience: I want a cup of coffee without a wait. Inevitably, the ideal of freshness has circumvented any actual freshly brewed coffee on the premises.

I admit I become somewhat neurotically irritated when this happens now, as it has happened, well, dozens of times.

Sadly, this sometimes means a Venti No Room whatever's darker coffee. Yech.

Otherwise, I take refuge in my vacuum pot.

well thats a given anywhere, drip coffee is never fresh unless you're their watching them make and order it the second it's done.

some places will give you a french press, though

I seldom find myself in a Starbuck's, but I will go there on purpose if I have a craving for the Chai latte... there's something about the Starbuck's Chai latte that I find very comforting. Otherwise I usually drink nonfat lattes and don't put anything in or on them. If I just want a cup of brewed, I have that at home or at work.

And some places even manage to make their coffee by french press AND not require you to wait.

I don't have any problem with drip coffee, though. Drink it all the time.

I thought there was a Starbucks on every block in every city, civilized or not. Where do you live now, the moon? Oh wait, I'm pretty sure there is one there too.

There is exactly one in my city: In the very, very south end of town attached to a major bookstore. It may as well be on the other side of the Moon.
