Yes I am and I've always hated "mate". Most often it's used by complete strangers and it gets my back up every time.

Thanks for elucidating. I guess it's similar to White guys (who've never seen me before in their life) just coming up to me and saying, "Hey, bro," as though they're honorary Black men (I can understand Eminem doing it!), when, as my mother used to say, you don't know him from Adam! And usually, I'm old enough to be their...older uncle. :) I suppose it's a way of showing you're relating to the other guy in a friendly way, but it can come across as overfamiliarity from complete strangers. I can understand that.

I prefer my name, unless it's a close friend. I call my close friends "babe" or "honey" or "sweetheart" as a way of letting them know they matter to me. If it's an intellectual discussion, I refer to them by their name.

My name...or dude...is mostly what my friends use. I am OK with either one...but fucker might be OK too LOL

Bro is NOT OK....it makes me cringe when I hear it. No one calls me "bro" though:vomit: (It's Bernie's fault!:rotflmao: )

Buddy was a word my Dad used before he beat you...so it isn't a favorite of mine either...

I haven't posted in this thread in quite a while. And, I still like to be called this by my male buddies:

In one circle of friends we like to call each other by the first initial of our first names. Mine is B, and there is C and R.

A close friend from High School calls me “Hed”, specifically spelled that way cause it comes from some shitty band people liked in High School that I didn’t. It was a joke but it stuck, lol.

I generally don’t care what people refer to me as as long as it isn’t disrespectful. My Grandfather used to call us dick heads pretty regularly when we were younger, so like anything goes for me. It’s hard to be insulted when someone calls you that for years.

Re the white guys calling you bro, are they frat boy types? They call everyone bro or dude.

Among my friends we might call each other bud but it's never buddy. Bub comes up once in awhile but it's never bubba. Mostly just call each other by our names.

It wouldn't matter what my Straight buddy Johnny calls me practically everything he calls makes me melt!

My name is preferable. Out of the four listed, I suppose that Buddy or Dude would be acceptable.

It gets me hard when I'm called Fucker. Maybe that's because I'm an enthusiastic top!

"Dude" - it is what I am used to - been that way as long as I can remember. I also address alot of my male friends as "dude".

I only have one friend (at most) and it is a female

I prefer to be called by my first name, or maybe the diminutive form of my name by relatives. I'll tolerate being called the diminutive form by friends, people I like, and lovers being affectionate, but I don't like being called that name by strangers or people I don't know well.

Lol ... actually, "HUSBAND!!" by my best friend friend and two wannabes. Sam by most, Sammy by those that feel a bit closer, and I guess "bro" is acceptable by those skirting the edge of affection.
