  • Hi Guest - Did you know?
Hot Topics is a Safe for Work (SFW) forum.

What do you usually eat on Christmas Eve?

We usually throw something quick on for supper, like spaghetti or hamburger helper, as my parents quickly head out the door to church. Since I don't go, I usually stay home and prepare some hor d'oeurves for when they get back. Plus lots of bubbly(ie sparkling wine)!

.............or Hanukkah?

On the first night of Hanukkah, we have the traditional Latkes (potato pancakes) with sour cream and apple sauce as well as the jelly-filled donuts (Krispy Creme of course!)...

We NEVER spoiled our "sugar-high" with any other foods that would "sop-up" all that sugar, so we thoroughly enjoyed that first night..................lol

I usually make salmon pies, and pork pies. We have an old tradition of all going to Midnight Mass and when arriving home we feast on the food and open our gifts.

Lots of seafood and pasta, we keep up with our Italian traditions. And of coures lots of Red wine and Grappa. Christmas morning is always a SLOW start.

we do this massive family thing every year with all the relatives in town which is about 30 , and we all have brekkie lunch and tea together so we spend the whole day with our relatives and we ussually eat a baked dinner / turkey / seafood for dinner/lunch and brekkie is a bbq of bacon and eggs and Oj , also plenty of alcohol and desserts like pavlova , trifle and cakes and slices , yummy im looking forward to christmas

I got into the habit of making pizza for Ma since she was the self-appointed cook for the 25th and it meant one less thing for her to think about.

In the years since she's passed on it was a nice memory to continue but I'm thinking about changing it this year and Asian appetizers and finger food sound like a good idea since it will be partner's and my first holiday in our new home and a time to start new traditions.

My family does our big dinner on Christmas...Christmas Eve is just the time you make the extras for Christmas day, such as cookies, pies, candies, ect...
So on the Eve, I just usually order some pizzas or get takeout with friends.

Luncheon meat and deli salads. It's been my family's tradition for years. But it's supposed to be fish. A family tradition in Italy is Feast of the Seven Fishes on Christmas Eve.
