What does everyone think of IE 9

I generally like IE 9 except now on JUB the featured porn pictures on top of the screen are off center, you have to zoom out on them to see the whole picture and the pictures then are too small to enjoy properly.

I just upgraded to IE 9.0 and now I am unable to post using the normal "reply" button. When I type in it, I am unable to use any of the formatting features - the drop down boxes for the fonts don't drop down. Also I am unable to use the smileys. Anything that I type does not show up in the preview box or in the final post.

I tried to start a thread about this subject but I can't even do that. I am writing this post via the quick reply box which still seems to work.

Does anyone know how to fix this short of uninstalling IE 9.0? Oh, by the way....I installed Windows 7 Service Pack 1 at the same time. So I really don't know what the culprit is. Thanks.

I checked my update list and they want me to download both IE 8 and 9. IE 9 is listed as optional and 8 is listed as important. I am currently running 7 on Vista Home Premium. Strange, right?

Go for IE8......IE9 sucks.
I ran 9 through the beta period and the more they "fixed" it the worse it got....... :grrr:
It's NOT ready for prime time and MS should know better by now....... ](*,)

So far, so good.

I'm liking it. ..|

Some things that were annoying in IE 8 are fixed in IE 9, like pop ups and confirm messages on top of confirm messages (delete goes to recycle bin first, stop asking me if I'm sure).

Posting a pic on JUB doesn't require a second confirmation for the pop up link anymore.

The only problem has been that clicking on a portrait oriented (taller than it is wide) pic on the JUB porn homepage places it at the bottom of my screen, half of it below the screen, and I cannot move the picture up.

If it's a landscape oriented pic (wider than it is long), it's still at the bottom but I can see all of it.

I don't know how to even phrase this as a search in Google, let alone how to fix it.

Yeah but at least I am not getting blue screens any more

IE8 I sure did. Also IE8 and Chrome are totally incompatible. NEVER run these two at the same time - because they must both compete for some protected memory in Windows. And of Windows halts!

This may be the problems that I am having then? I use chrome predominantly, when Chrome has errors or oddities that happen on webpages, I open them with firefox (firefox is a great browser, but I enjoy the layout and usability of Chrome slightly, though I will probably return to firefox due to the favourites/histoy layout).

I have been getting alot of those "work offline?" questions when loading my net, and when if I say no... try again it crashes explorer, if I say yes I have to open IE and change it back to online >.<

I'm surprised people still use IE. I have been using firefox for at least 3 years and have had little problems with it compared to IE.

I am desperately wish to roll bacl to IE 8. Can any one tell me how to roll back to IE 8 please ..........

IE 9 is crap.

thanks

Simply uninstall it: Control Panel; Programs and Features; Turn Windows features on or off (upper left corner of the window); another pop up opens; find IE9 and uncheck it.
Luckily MOST of your user preferences will remain as will your bookmarks. You'll have to change a few settings once IE9 is toast.

IE9 in early beta was FAR better than what was released........ #-o

Can't stand IE9. That said, I'm not enamoured with Firefox 4 either - but that's mainly a design kind of thing... and the fact that 3 of my favourite add-ons haven't updated for FF4 yet. I'll get used to it though. :)

Might try Chrome again though - despised it when it first came out - but that might have been my hatred for Google! :)

^No because the registry needs to be restored too. A simple uninstall won't back those changes out...

I would do a system restore and use a restore point BEFORE IE9 was installed...

Registry WHAT?....... #-o

I've uninstalled IE9 on three computers without ANY problems. It simply defaults to IE8.

I think IE9 was kinda a corporate move to get people to upgrade to Windows 7, it kinda sucks how it doesn't run on PC's running anything before Vista, ah well... It's not like I would've used it anyway, I'll stick with Firefox 4. :)

what the heck are you talking about?

a browser is a regular program like any other. at least it should be. IE didn't used to be. but since several lawsuits against MS (mostly in the EU) they had to make it like that, too.
and unless they fucked something up, a simple uninstall will work. and also remove the registry entries.

No it doesn't. If you compare the registry it's not the same. Microsoft doesn't roll back the registry. Unless they by pass the registry in IE9....I don't see how.

You may have IE8 back but it's not the same version as what you had.

Anyway why would anyone offer browser roll-back? That's like an admission of failure.

Seeing as how you know I'll just STFU....... #-o

a rollback rolls everything back. and yes it is something different, but it is totally unneeded here. ie9 has a working uninstall routine. if it would not undo the registry settings, ie8 wouldn't work afterwards - but it does.
if you are worried about registry artifacts use one of the registry cleaner programs.
doing a rollback will only cause you more problems due to other software/settings that you made in the time between, also it does rollback more than just the registry. so stop giving unknowing users potentially harmful advice.

telling an unknowing user to just restore some restore point from "before" the ie9 install IS harmful advice.

you can have any opinion that you want, but stuff like this is no better than people telling others the old "deltree win32" joke  and thus won't be tolerated here.

one thing i hate about IE9 is that it doesnt have restore previous session, which i like! so i just download firefox.. if anyone know how i can find that in IE9, please let me know!
