I get that a lot. But oddly, only when people hear my voice without seeing me. I don't know if I somehow fake the announcer voice when I'm on the phone or doing stuff like this. But in person, nobody seems to think anything much of my voice. But no, I didn't take diction lessons. And no, I didn't go to broadcast school, or have a communications degree.

From what region?

When I left my town, it was still in a postal region known as North Humberside. It's now part of the East Riding of Yorkshire. I live in South Yorkshire now, and older folks sound more folksy, whilst the younger folks all sound like tv English.
