Yeah, I guess most people speak differently when they know their voices are being recorded. Usually, when researches are doing linguistic recording they make every effort to help the person being studied forget they're being recorded so they can speak casually rather than self-consciously. Asking them to talk about a time they nearly died is a really good technique for that, amybe I should re-record me telling a near-death experience :)

Definitely not a US accent. Most Malaysians I've met in Australia have a mix of Aussie, non-regional English and some other mysterious variant in their accent. It's cute.

LOL well I'd rather have you embarrassed than myself I'll have to admit... was fascinating though because apart from adding echoing I didn't edit anything, your speech/flow is so regular, paced like a metronome... is that thug/ghetto talk you mentioned like subliminal training at becoming a rapper or something?

Anyway, I was trying to listen to the voices of other JUBbers but that website seems to delete posts after a very few months... shame

yes.... :cry: that's it. it's five times worse in person where i can't even properly articulate myself without sounding like an ass. add that to the volume problem and you have a speech disaster.

I'm kind of reluctant to post that, as there were some problems during recording. My voice isn't actually that quiet; I had to talk that low because if I spoke too loud I would get horrible audio feedback. Yes, I fail at technology

you know something funny? when i first heard your voice, you sounded very soft. when i heard the other recording of your voice last night which was on the last page, your voice sounded very deep and rough. now, you sound like a mix of both. you sound soft but at the same time, you can hear a bit of the roughness in your voice. interesting.
