Campaign season is coming up, and I'm thinking. What are the most important issues to people in our community? besides the gay marriage thing. If Equality was achieved, and the LGBT community was equally treated in the eyes of the law, what would be the other issues you would be interested and how would you approach the most important one to you, how would you solve it?

People that make over a certain amount shouldn't be able to hold office.. they won't be interested in helping the rich anymore.. Let the regular people get in office and run the government.

Kris, I use to think that too but when you get in office, soon or later you will have to chance to become "one of them" and most are going to taking because they want to secure their future. I think in end the only thing that will help is term limits, especially for congress/senate. If you love gov that much, there are many other things you can do. Many spend their last dime trying to get an office seat because they know they can make big money and not to mention all the perks. As of now, i don't have anything pressing. My mother will soon be 60 and as long as she will be ok, thats the most important thing to me right now. I got at least 30 more years to work.

in the gay community? even with 'equality' under the law - homophobia is still #1 because it affects straight men too.

i approach it by trying to be supportive of my gay friends. it has to be solved with leadership, role models, etc.

why do you ask?

Immigration is by far, by far, the most serious problem we have because it renders all the other problems insolvable--poverty, unemployment, low wages, stagnant wages, health care, environment, crime, education, internal strife, lack of internal cohesion or feeling of community.
Because of foreign competition and newer technology we no longer have and expanding economy and employment opportunities. This is not going to change. It is not your grandfathers economy and it will not be ever again.

Considering Jobs is my #1 even now.

Then party politics and maybe even the current system concerning elections should be looked at.

I only start putting gay union rights as #1 when the GOP capitulates even more to their vocal Social Conservative base.

LOL That's what we have in the House right now: a load of "regular people" holding the government hostage because of a bunch of simpleton ideas.

Issue: non-citizens participating in politics.

Solution: define that only living, breathing US citizens and legal residents have or may exercise any rights at all pertaining to the political process.

You still have not answered how you deal with media corporations. Those corporations are actively campaigning this election. They are far more active and influential than other corporations.

^ I bet you wouldn't say the same thing if it was skewed to your side of the political spectrum.

The GOP seems to do well even with the "Evil Liberal Media", as evidenced by the 2010 elections.

This along with tax cuts, are one a few issues that are important and significant but some Republicans have turned into fetishes that they apply to the exclusion of all reason and compromise to the detriment of the nation. Immigration reform is an important issue but it is not the end all be all of all our problems.
