  • Hi Guest - Did you know?
Hot Topics is a Safe for Work (SFW) forum.

What gives you away?

Anyone watching my eyes when I see a hot guy would know off the bat. My watching other guys' eyes is my main gaydar detector.

This coming from the guy with a photo of Joan Crawford for his avatar and a Joan Crawford quote in his signature. Reciting "Mommie Dearest" probably gives you away every time. :D
When I asked you to call me that, I wanted you to mean it.

On the other hand, I do have a slight tit obsession...

My ipod. It's all showtunes.

LOL...that sounds like my roommate. No one ever would guess he was gay, unless they heard his Ipod. We were having a party and I told him to put some music on, next thing I know I'm talking to someone and I hear the soundtrack to Hairspray come on. I almost threw his Ipod through the window

My ipod. It's all showtunes.

This is definitely something thats holds in my case.
I can't help it! I love to sing!

Oh, and leaving "World Famous Gay Forums...." up in a tab on my computer while I'm on Hulu watching Family Guy and my roommate comes to watch with me and sees the tab.

when it happens, not the voice - but the inflections in the voice on emphasis of certain words. at times, it does not happen - so the sensibility of another person obviously plays a part. i don't think anyone ever connected by yellow chiffon outfits to anything.

My ipod. It's all showtunes.

Me too. My MP3 player is loaded with musical soundtracks. Hairspray (movie and broadway), Rent, Across The Universe, Mamma Mia!, The Wizard Of Oz, Xanadu (movie and broadway too, of course).

Oh, and I also have Christina Aguilera, Scissor Sisters, Sam Sparrow, Cyndi Lauper, and ABBA on there as well.

And maybe the hunk pictures I have stored on there give it away too. :D

And I also wear a pride rainbow rubber bracelet, a little rainbow dogtag, and an embrace diversity pin at work. Hey, I advertise!

I don't know. Would that give it away?

I don't think I do have anything that gives me away.

To the few people I have came out to, they were very surprised and didn't believe me. It was pretty funny.

One gay guy I knew who I came out to later was surprised. I thought gay people could tell other gay/bi people off the bat but I've realized some of them have horrible gaydar.

Not having a gf does it. The ones that know tell me they found it off a guy like me ( easy going, funny etc) would not be dating anyone. Otherwise nothing.

This is a very important point.
When a guy is of a marriage age and he is not married or don't have any gf. There must be some reasons why and hommo is a very big reason........... :)

For me...

I would say it's either the way I dress, which isn't camp, I just spend a lot on clothes and wear things like Ralph Lauren, Calvin Klein etc.
Or I spend loads on products. I have about £50 of Lush products every month and hundreds of other things in my wardrobe, so I'm pretty well groomed.

But personality wise, there isn't much that would give me away...

Hmm.... good question.

I tend to point our fashion faux pas. I'm constantly asking where people that sweater... that sort of thing. That might be a bit of a clue, I suppose. I almost always match and enjoy playful, but subtle accoutrement.

I don't think there's anything about me that really screams GAY. But I've been told the way I carry myself (how I stand/walk/etc) kinda does. I never really noticed it until I saw videos of myself. I tend to use my hands in kind of "that" way.

& the drunker I get, the more animated I get. That one, I know is fact!

Probably my voice and I've heard most recently my walk. I've lost some weight but I've still got an ass and it sways hahaha

I would probably say it's a couple of factors such as the way I stand (with my hand on the hip), how I dance (I can do the stripper bend), and how I always talk about how my friends are women.

I definitely think it's my voice inflection and (as other people said) I have been called "articulate". I tend to cross my legs when I'm sitting and use a lot of hand gestures... I do say "Oh my god" quite a bit too. I'm not camp, but really not "masculine" at all either. I kinda fall in the middle--with a demeanor that I guess comes off as kinda innocent. I smile a lot too--that may be why I always get called "cute" (by straight and gay guys alike).

Well, nothing apparently. It's happened a few times now that I was in a gay bar and I was asked it I was gay, or just a lost little straight guy.

If I'm talking to a reasonably hot guy, I kiss him to prove my gayness.

Ya know, I'm not entirely convinced that you're gay... ;)
