Do you Go into a sleep, go through death's door into the spirit world, cease to exist, or fall through a trap door into a place called hell??

It's less a spiritual sleep for me, more that I return to the Wheel until I decide to take another shot at rebirth.

My faith believes that when you "Die" that your body decays BUT your soul lives onward and upward in natural progression thru spirit until you reach the final plane that may be called Heaven if you please ... and .. in many cases can and do return in human form to the Earth plane to repete life and make ammends for wrongs that you may have done ... = KARMA.

I more of a spiritualist myself. I choose everything down to my death, and even the way I am going to die. Our exsistence during this life is what we disire it to be. When we die we see our own heaven or hell. No worries! Just simply choose to change it and it will. Life is about creating and experiencing the next BIG idea of yourself. So everyday do what pleases you! Remember everything is part of you and you are a part from it. Of course this my belief just thought I would share with you....

No one truly 'knows' what (if anything) happens after death, but all of the multitudinous different religions, and spiritual traditions have their various teachings (theories) on the subject.

In the absence of any evidence, I have no particular 'belief' on the subject. O:)

I believe that your spiritual self goes on in a way that is reflective of how you lived your life here. I believe this life is a "learning stage" and we come into this life for a reason. If you don't fullfill it, you are doomed to repeat it. I don't believe in harps and golden thrones in the sky or fire and brimstone, but I do believe there is a power greater than all of us, whether we call it "God" or whatever. Sometimes when I really think about it all, I wonder if "earth" can actually be a form of "hell" where we must live inside a body that is subject to pain, suffering, disease, wars, etc...If there is such a thing as a "spritual self", it would be like "heaven" not having to be bound to a physical body and all that goes with it.

A day will come for all of us when we will finally know for sure.

I don't know and I don't care. The world goes on like it always did since a couple of billion years without even stopping for the tiniest part of a nanosecond.

I live now or never! ..|

I don't really know. But one thing I can tell you is:

Go into the light Carol Ann, into the light........ LOL

I more of a spiritualist myself. I choose everything down to my death, and even the way I am going to die.

I'd be interested in knowing just what Spiritualist Organization that you are associated with ... I don't doubt what you say; BUT as an Ordained Spiritualist , I've NEVER heard any of our doctrine like you describe.

Also; I still wonder why , when someone ask a somewhat serious question etc .. that there has to be morons who will post silly and/or stupid nonsense just to get a post in since they apparently don't have the intelligence to make a qualified statement.

I don't know if that statement is directed at me or not but I posted my answer before making the sarcastic remark, basically.....that I don't know. I also don't speculate because it really doesn't matter. It won't change what happens to me when I'm dead.

Why don't you come back and tell me what happens after you're dead, then we will all know.

One other thing, I don't give a crap what my post count is. I have better things to worry about.

BUT as an Ordained Spiritualist , I've NEVER heard any of our doctrine like you describe.
'Ordained Spiritualist' or not, you still don't really know what happens after death. Sure, you may have teachings, theories, maybe even some sort of personal death-related experiences. But until your actually dead yourself you'll have no worthwhile genuine knowledge of the post-death state (assuming that there actually is one, of course). (o)

PS. I would have thought that any person with an ounce of true 'spiritual' awareness would recognise the underlying validity of even the most seemingly 'flippant' response to a question such as this. O:)

This question has deeply interested me over the years, cause I have felt close to death at times, including thoughts of suicide. The latter began as early as 17.....so, I have done various researches about this question

Best way to approach it is using logic and feeling, and inference

We KNOW we are here. that is more real than conjecture about 'God' , 'afterlife' etc. Here seems so VERY real. it IS real. So to assume that death is some kind of neverending NOT being here seems to me a dream, cause me, you, him , her, the tree, dog ARE here. and here to me, at least, despite all the evils etc is fukin AMAZING. the fact we are here, and all diverse, and having sex, and Nature. it is mindblowing. And I am sure that more people feeling this would make the actual pracitcal living far more interesting and creative

Now, there are some hints what may happen at death. i am seeing it like this, there is energy, and as even the hardest sceince, physics, has shown us, matter and energy are interchageable, but there is ALSO consciousness. Ftrom what i learn , consciousness is ALWAYS with matter/energy but is distinct. It is how matter/energy FEELS.

So, NDEs. Many reports have been where a person is -by our means of measurement-'dead', YET the 'dead person' later relates they were conscious outSIDE their bodies./ were looking down, and even travelled down tunnels etc.

Some of their experiences seem heavenly, but there are also what are called 'Frigtening NDEs' where they experience hellish experiences.

Now, this can happen here, in what we know doesn't it. you can be in states of ecstassy, and at other times in states of utter hell, and stages in between. a myriad of potential states of being. So as I am understanding it, life and death form a continuum of experience. No stage of this continuum is static. Ie., look at some belief systems: some believe 'when yer dead yer dead'--ie., that is a static concept. do you agree? and others believe: 'you never need a body and go forever into spiritual realms' etc. that too is a static concept. do you agree with that. For for me, those belief systems reveal the undercurrent of patriarchal belief systems, that matter and spirit are separate or CAn be separated.

I personally believe no one is meant to know what happens after death. It is a mystery that will never be solved until you have taken that step.
Does it depend on your belief what happens? No idea, and if so then to me death just means it's the end...but since I'm not exactly sure I just leave this option open for whatever happens.

Since I don't believe in an afterlife, I imagine that dying is very much like slipping into a deep, dreamless sleep from which you never have to worry about that damned alarm clock going off. Some might find that notion despairing and sad, but I am far more alarmed by the idea that some disembodied consciousness is left after my material being expires, left to float around in space for eternity.

Jesus Christ says that if you belong to him, you will be with him in paradise! He is eternal life! Seperation from Jesus is hell! In him is no darkness or death. He is the only way to heaven! if you dont know him before you die, that is truly death. we are only here for a short time, get to know Jesus today because tomorrow might not come.

I said the "spiritual sleep".

I think you lose consciousness until you choose another body to incarnate in. When you are reborn, almost all of your past experiences are forgotten by your conscious mind. Some things may linger, which would explain talents, tendencies, past-life memories, and even gender identity issues that some people have.

Certain Buddhists sects train their mind to stay alert even during sleep, so when they die and fall into this sleep-like state, they can choose not to reincarnate into another body.

this is very interesting...but why do we only focus on "us" human beings only and not look at other living things around us? What happens to animals when they die? what happens to plants/ trees wgen they die? why do some species like trees able to survive billions of years, yet some flowers are only capable to survive annually or perennially? Is there fountain of youth that hasn't been discover? if we discover the mystery of our genes, maybe us human beings could survive over 100+ years old.
But then, people who say that our body decay and our soul moves to another dimension, but where do "ghosts" come into play???

Interesting questions. If I may.......I am aware that most patriarchal religions and i include in this many eastern religions which preach being able to leave bdoy for ever etc. That they seem to put down all other crreation of Nature other than humans, especially MALE humans. Whereas i dont see it like that. cause i see the looking down on Nature as a problem that is acting out in whats happening to the world

it might be really amazing to be a flower, the wind, a dog, horse, pig. You would BE that experience. you wouldn't be a human feeling like a pig but be a pig happily wallowing in mud, or a flower with the warmth of the sun on its petals and leaves,

As for ghosts. that is a great question and one that very much intrigues me. cause like you say. you here all these theories of heaven, hell, nirvana, and YET qwe here of ghosts. and its trus that THIS subject is diverse to. cause we have differnt types. we have ones that seem to do same thing, like walk down corridors at same time, and maybe walk aty higher levels where ground used to be or lower. And others that you can communicate with, etc.

Read this best explanation i've ever read about ghosts a whiole back and have forgotten its main message, but it said something like that what we believe are ghosts of the dead. many are maybe certain energies that can continue your personas characteristics, like some kind of interdimensional recording. and that these can even be interactive relationships:eek:

Monists such as myself, believe that when the brain dies, the personality that was contained in it's trillions of synapses, ceases to exist.
