Monists such as myself, believe that when the brain dies, the personality that was contained in it's trillions of synapses, ceases to exist.

Yes, interesting. 'persona' originally meant 'mask'--as in social mask. so what we THINK we are is not necessairly what we ARE in essence which is more than JUST our mask or masks.

Heard of the death/rebirth experience? this goes way back to the promordial beginnings of religion where the person experiences a kind of death whilst living, and from there is 'reborn' feeling a new energy for life.

So thats surely what the BIG D is. the actual rejuvenation of life energy, which really doesn't belong to any static form but is a living dynamic river of life which includes death, because you can't haave life with out death

If you and I had been fully thinking persons during our last days in our mothers' wombs we might have wondered what about what the world "outside" might be like; but, I rather think that neither of us would have wished to leave the warm comfort we were enjoying.

After the initial trauma of birth most babies settle down and eat eagerly and sleep soundly. Why? It only happened because loving hands reached out to recieve us and continued to nurture us so that none of us regularly expresses any desire to return to the womb. There comes the time to be born!!

I don't really care for the endless specculation that goes on about what happens after we die. It is a mystery and wonderful for that reason. But, once again, I have no fear of death. Why? Because I have come to a firm belief in a Creator who makes possible birth and provides the system that provides for newborns and a world in which babies are usually loved and given kindly nurture, I also believe that, though I do not wish to hasten my death, I can be confident that the kindly Creator has also provided for the post-earthly life.

Therefore live joyfully and be grateful. Don't waste time worrying about death.

Peace.
