What Has Been The Scariest Thing That's Ever Happened To You?

Almost getting my head ripped off by a train.

To this day I still have an irrational fear of trains.

On a dark night, crossing the Sheliikof straits in Alaskan water, starting off with still conditions and ending in high, treacherous seas--on a 50' fishing boat.

I nearly died, it was very close...

I goggled what the hell a Red Back was...

Now im pissed

Awwww thanks for sharing that

You are a fantastic Dad and im glad everything from your son finding that house to the person in that house being a good person all worked out (*8*)(*8*)

Re: What Has Been The Scariest Thing(s) That's Ever Happened To You?

In proper order..

The day I found out that I needed glasses. I was about eight. I was at the mall with my sister and parents. we became separated, and everyone went fuzzy I couldn't find my way. But my sis found me, I had to hold her hand the whole time we looked for my parents.

I used to be in Boy Scouts. we went on this one camp out during winter. It rained heavily the previous evening, and everything was frozen.
I paired up with this other kid (who was awkward and uncoordinated) and we get a head start out of there. we were probably a good mile or so ahead of the pack, me being in lead.
I cross this icy bridge over a stream, I get about 20 feet past it, I hear a crack and some rustling, dead silence for about a few seconds. then a very loud yelp from that other kid behind me.
He fell into the stream and became wedged under a log.
All I could really do for him was strip his gear and keep his head out from under the water until somebody with more upper body strength than me can pull him out. The hanging out by somebody who could be dying and feeling helpless about it part got to me.
people tried to give me credit for being there. but if nobody showed up, he would have probably frozen to death and I would have not been able to do anything about it.
So I never took credit for anything. let alone want to talk about it.

That time my dad was punching and screaming at me. It was worse than usual. I had to go to school that morning, I did what I could to not cry in front of my friends.

I was working at a dry dock. it was hot out, so I jump in the water. It dawned on me that I couldn't swim so good after loosing a bunch of weight and gaining muscle.

Crossing a freeway in wet weather in a rear-drive car with bald tires. there was a Grey line bus in the right lane going full speed. My car managed to grip some asphalt and get me the hell across in the nick of time.

And a couple of strange dreams that seemed to carry a message or have some supernatural connection.

i saw a man and a woman having sex. scared the crap out of me.

haha not.

I saw that and strangely I wanted to watch, even though I just kept walking. It was at a concert at my university and they were doing it underneath the table cloth of a banquet table in another room near the concert hall of all things. I thought "good for them, poor horny bastards..."

Scariest thing was probably getting airsick while flying.

(I managed to land the plane safely though).

Oh I would have to say it would be when, one of my best friends mother stabbed him to death overnight. I was 7-8 years old and they lived upstairs from us, I still very vividly remember his brother running in to our house screaming "Steven's dead Steven's dead" after discovering the body. We lived in that house 'till I was 17 I was always spooked.

Probably when I got robbed at gunpoint at work.

Getting mugged in the Elevator at the Denver Hilton comes in at a close second.

Choking on a jawbreaker once comes to mind...

Even though I was once threatened by a gang member, although I do not think it was in all seriousness. Effectively, the ex and I were walking back to his place after a movie. At that time, he didn't live in the greatest area, in fact, it's probably one of the worst areas in town...

Anyways, not even half way to his house, a voice calls out to us from the other side of the street, immediately asking if we were members of a rival gang. The ex, of course, yelled back that we weren't, to which they responded if we were they would shoot us.

So, that's probably the most outside of my comfort bubble I've been.

A bomb scare on a night flight from Rome to Athens. The flight was delayed for three hours, and after we took off our plane circled low over the city for an hour before finally ascending to head for Athens. No one (this being Italy) officially told us anything and so the passengers (being Italian) imagined everything, all of it bad. It was only after I managed to get a stewardess to talk candidly with me did I understand what was going on, and spent the rest of the flight concentrating on keeping the plane in the air and wishing I had never gotten on it. There was, of course, no bomb (or it least no bomb that exploded) and no real harm resulted. The worst scenario played only in my mind; in compensation, as it were, the month that followed in Greece and Egypt was one of the best I've ever had.
