What Has England Ever Done For The World ?

Hercule Poirot and Miss Marple. Alice in Wonderland and Winnie the Pooh. Frankenstein and (sorta only because we don't have a 'What has Ireland ever done for the world?' yet) Dracula.

Oh, and subways (the underground) and an accent that Dick Van Dyke murdered in 'Mary Poppins'.

Postage stamps (i.e. the Penny Black).

Cricket, football, rugby, tennis.

Elizabethan tennis

With all of their explorations, and exploitations, the Royal Navy established the general rules of the sea!

That's also why they drive on the "wrong" side of the road! #-o  :slap:

It has made us realize that American food isn't so bad after all.

Oh really? I'll give you Stargazy Pie which is Cornish. The middle image, however, is Haggis and the lower one is Laverbread which are Scottish and Welsh respectively. Both are admittedly quite revolting, but neither is remotely English. [-X

Well, rareboy already mentioned Spotted Dick.

There's also:

And black pudding (which looks the same on the way is as it does on the way out):

Well I'll concede on Faggots, but there's nothing wrong with Spotted Dick which is simply a sponge pudding with sultanas. Black Pudding is awful, although widely served with Scallops in trendy restaurants, but it's only a version of blood sausage which is widely found in Europe.

Marmite though is delicious. That is something which England has given to the world! Far better than that Vegemite crap you find in Australia. ..|

Vegemite is actually a lot better than people think it is... when people outside Australia taste test it, they usually glop on a huge amount as if it's strawberry jam or something. What you're supposed to do is butter the bread, and then spread a very small amount... it's like going to a sushi restaurant and eating the entire glob of wasabi, and then stating that wasabi is terrible.
(I did that once; I ate the glob of wasabi not knowing what it was haha... it was awful, but then when I had it properly, I enjoyed it quite a bit.)

In all seriousness... I will any type of food at least once (my one rule is nothing with eyes- food should not be looking back at me from the plate).

There was a British pub near my apartment in New York where I would meet friends for a British Full Breakfast on weekends. It was delicious. So, one evening, I decided to try some of the other items on the dinner menu. Never again. :vomit:

She gave us a lot of lovely JUBbers here in JUB world.
