Whenever a male troll starts with the 'Your mother is a ...' comments reply with 'Your father is a #####' - it works.
 
We spend fortunes trying to fight poverty but the real problem is over population.

Ethi0pia? Back in 1961 the population was 23 million it is now 88 million,
Pakistan was 43 million it is now 187 million
1ndia it was 439 million and now it is 1.21 billion.

Am I wrong?

When I was a kid, there was still an insult "Your mother wears Army boots!" (Also, though not an insult, "Kilroy was here" was a common phrase, too.)

That's been gone for a while...a good while...anybody remember these?

If people don't like the solution to a problem, they will deny the problem exists in the first place rather than endure the solution.

So, advocates of infertility (and frugality) are challenged with the proposition that overpopulation is not a problem.

Meanwhile, effects such as human-caused mass-extinction and climate change continue.

I remember hearing that as a kid in the 70's, from my parents' generation.

I must say I never understood why it was an insult. Even as a 7 year old who had never heard the word "surrealism" that's what I would have thought it was.
 
The battle during the Wars of the Roses where Henry VI was defeated and which led to Edward IV taking power (and so marked the passing of the House of Lancaster over to the House of York) I learn was called the Battle of Towton, and that furthermore, its location is astoundingly close to Tadcaster in Yorkshire!

I never knew this!

A Judas hole is a peephole in a door. Why, though, remains a mystery.

For what it’s worth, I think a Judas trap is a scheme to help a friend’s enemies. Or something. If so, what that has to do with a monastery I have no clue.

I can’t find a definition of Judas trap on the net. Even the free version of the Oxford dictionary fails, the free version of the Cambridge dictionary and the free Merriam-Webster.

It makes sense that a window in a monastery would be known as a Judas Trap. For a monk, contemplation of the outside world is a "self-defeating" behavior; a monk's work ought to be focused on the interior of the cloister.
