some people on telephone help lines aren't bright enough to be talking to the public because they're clueless on how to deal with anything not in their script

You are describing shrinks in general there too.
Most grannies, competent coaches or avid readers of Russian or French literature are better equipped to deal with psychology work than any idiot with a university degree in the matter.

Some grannies can be annoying but the granny in the movie "My Brilliant Career" gives sage advice saying 'Loneliness is a high price to pay for Independence'.

That sounds like a failed shrink undercover.

Tasso's Gerusalemme should have never made the cut on my B list.

Today I learnt I'd lost 24 kilos since I got my new job in February. I've still got 10 to go to reach the goal I set back then, but now I don't know if I need to lose anymore. I'll think about it.

WHAT! You were JUB's resident Jabba the Hutt?

All stupidities aside, that was not healthy, you are either leading yourself towards anorexia or you were seriously overweight, and all that implies: it's like you would be choosing the two passages to the same lethal exit.

That being said, I'll probably die the first by having only one real meal in the evening and some sort of snack in the morning on weekdays... adding on that what I have been doing for the past twenty years.

Actually, loosing a kilo or week or there abouts is healthy belamo. I cut out snacking between meals, reduced my intake of soft drinks and sugary sweets, and ate a diet that is high in salads and protein, and low in carbs. On too of that, I walk for half an hour a day, instead of doing no exercise at all.

I learn't today to look to yourself for the answer. But in truth it's easier said then done.
Thats why I like the poem from Donna Roberts

“A friend is someone who knows the song in your heart, and can sing it back to you when you have forgotten the words.”

Like it or not. Friends are important.

True that. That is why you must not fancy that just anyone, no matter how well-meaning, is a true friend of yours.

^ taking belamo's response in consideration all I have to say is....you'll know when even a "friend" is not a friend.

We use just over 10% of our brains in everyday life. No more than that. But we know that AT LEAST 80% of the "grey matter" is active. What is it doing? At least for this argument lets call at least some of it "instinct". Trust yourself. You are not a fool. You are not here no be someone else's fool.

Know thyself. Be a fool because YOU chose it. Not because of someone else made you that way.

^ and now upon considering my response I should at least be honest enough to say to say that I've been fooled (many times) and have, by my own reasoning, should be responsible for becoming someone else's fool. I know in places like JUB no one is REALLY interested in peoples personal lives and I agree with another topic on this very subject that this is not the place to rely on advice. But after living 5 years now in self seclusion and the inevitable contemplation that comes with it I'm saying this to anyone that's interested freely. Trust yourself. No one knows you better than you!
