I am grateful that one of my oldest mates, by far my superior when it comes to science and research, has managed to secure a good position befitting his knowledge and skills, after months of uncertainty regarding the funding of his current position in London. I miss him terribly, but it's good that he gets to stay there and carry on doing what he does best. He wrote me a brilliant reference for my own research funding application here in Cape Town which was successful, so I'm over the moon that something has worked in his favour.

Congrats, my good man.
