What if you only THOUGHT you were gay?

If you know you only think your gay then evidently you know your not. If you dont know that, then what difference does only 'thinking' your gay make? Go where your attraction takes you.

Is it possible? Sure. Ask Tom Robinson. But what are you going to do? Wait around twenty years or so to see if it's just a phase? :)

God, that magazine is obsessed with trying to convince its readers they aren't gay.

The most interesting part of the article was at the end where all of the guys interviewed basically said that they didn't regret the sex they had with men and that they felt it was valuable experience for better understanding their sexuality.

As with most sensationalist stories with sensationalist headlines, they get down to the meat (and truth) of the matter near the very end of the article:

While these men all think the switch from gay to straight was a definitive experience, some experts are skeptical that such a turnaround happens in any but the rarest cases. "I've only run across men who came out of the closet and pursued their gay identity but couldn't withstand the pressures of family and society so returned to being closeted and heterosexual relationships," says Ian Kerner, Ph.D., a sex therapist and the author of Sex Detox.

I read the article. Those guys aren't straight. They are BIsexual. A straight guy does not "enjoy" having sex with guys. There are many levels of sexuality (as I've said in a previous thread)---Straight. Straight with tendencies (toward guys). Bisexual (liking both about equally). Gay with tendencies (toward women), and Gay. These guys are anywhere between Straight with tendencies and Gay with tendencies. You can't "Turn off" liking guys (or girls even) like you would flip a light switch. This article is offensive in the fact that it seems to state just that, and the fact that these guys "righted themselves" after being "confused".

Yeah, it's really schlock journalism. I agree.

You cannot change your orientation, gay OR straight. Young gay/bi guys who convince themselves that "it was just a phase" are the ones who, in their 50's, find themselves married, with kids, and getting arrested in bookstores or restrooms cruising for sex......
