i have some tenderness inside my mouth under my upper lip. its very localized and quarter sized and it has a strange semi-numb like feeling. i dont know what is causing it but i did have someone spit at me the other day.

*they now have to stay 100 yards away from me*

im thinking it might be an abcess - should i see a doctor?

Could it be a canker sore? I often get them on the inside of my mouth, and they can be very painful. However, I would recommend you consult a health professional to get an accurate diagnosis and appropriate treatment, if necessary. After all, it's better to be safe than sorry.

It may be an ulcer , as Special K says best get it checked out , if only for peace of mind . Good luck .

It is always a good idea to see your doctor if you are not well or need an accurate diagnosis. In the meantime, you could use some honey as a temporary relief. Just dab some on the affected area and let it sit there, repeat as needed.

You could check in with your dentist, too.

i dont think its a canker sore, if it is, its not like past ones. theres a deeper red color around the area and its kinda itchy like an allergic thing.

It does sound like a bacterial infection , rinsing your mouth out with warm slightly salted water will help . If it does get worse then you should see a doctor for appropriate treatment .

I stopped getting canker sores now that I have removed anything with citric acid from my diet like tomatoes, grapefruits, oranges, lemons, limes, and any type of drink made with these high citric acid fruits. No more tears for me!
