What is it about Florida?

I was in Florida once years ago - that was enough for me. I didn't like the swampy weather - same with Mississippi and Louisiana.

FF to today - life is too short to deal with the Florida politics - I prefer a liberal environment and vibe.

Several years ago I spent a few weeks on the East Coast of FL. I was told that most homes were in gated communities. That is an unusual concept for me. Are you in a gated residentual area? Or maybe a retirement gated community?

We are in a small gated community. There are 32 houses all on just under an acre. They are building this area up like crazy, mostly with walled and gated communities. The one we live in was the first gated community established in the early 1980‘s.

The Naked Floridian of the week is Martin Earl Lebouef, age 60. He was arrested for masturbating at Topsail State Park in Walton County.

The part of Florida we visited (by Greyhound bus) was beautiful. Such beautiful flowers some growing almost unto the beach itself, and a wonderful sandy beach with pebbles of coral in it.

Iguana's on the street and in the palms, gem-like mushrooms on the trees, a military graveyard straight from Top Gun.

And a spider hanging from my ex's parents roof, which looked like a jewel.

We went to see Versace's house.

But... the signs that warned for aquatic reptilians were shocking.

Florida, especially around the coasts, is nice. The interior is a big swamp. Northern Florida would be nicer if it were depopulated.

The iguanas are not much fun when they take residence in your yard. They're surly and, because they're cold-blooded, they have a habit of falling out of the trees when the temperatures drop.

In fact, Florida is the place where pet store cute animals come to invade and kill off the native species. The same could be said of the people moving to Florida.

There is also a series of recurring stories about naked men in public places in Florida. It was really bad about 10 years ago when "bath salts" were popular. However, it seems to have outlasted the bath salts trend.

Florida is proof positive that all the crazy shit seems to eventually sink to the bottom.

We have personal experience with one of my partner's family members that Florida seems to have a strange attraction for the damaged.

And of course, this is also borne out by MAGA-Lardo and the orange menace in exile from New York.

This video reminds me of how Florida seems obsessed with making sex offenders' identities known to the world. Some years ago, when I lived in Tampa, I would get these robocalls from the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office, saying that such and such sex offender had just moved into such and such an address. It seems there was a trailer park about a mile from where I lived, that was far enough from schools/churches/neighborhoods with children, etc., where sex offenders could legally live. I'm thinking, why are you telling me all this? Do you want me to go over there with the welcome wagon or something?
