I am 6'1 253. Age 20. What should my lean body weight be and what is my body fat percentage?

Depends on what kind of body type you are.
You end up in the higher end of the BMI scale, but then again, so do I.

Body fat can not be calculated from the info you have provided.

Yeah, depends on if you are all muscle and working out or all fat, sitting on the couch.

Say you DON'T work out at all, then you are likely too fat.

Post a picture if you want a real opinion.

As for myself, for example, I'm 46, 5'11" and right now at 184lbs. I'm pretty normal. But ideal weight is around 170 for ME. That's where I don't carry visible fat and feel my best.

I'm getting there again this summer.

So it depends. Everyone is different. Some people are tall and very slender naturally, other have a heavy more muscular build. (Naturally) What are you?

Are you still doing your workouts?

Would knowing your body fat % and lean body mass actually do anything for you?

Better question is how much should you weigh, and what can you do to get there?

Just saw you had another post on here and realized you're looking at starting to lose weight. Kudos to you.

Anyway, the best thing to do is ignore the scales, BMI calculators, BF estimation etc and focus on things you can actually do. Most of those things will just frustrate you as they're inaccurate anyway. When your clothes start getting loose, you know you're doing it right.

you can't really calculate your body fat easily, the best way is to measure it.

yeah. My rate of weight loss a week is 2.5 pounds, getting 109gs of protein and lifting weights. I know its not what most people would advise me to do but I dont see how it cant work lol.

As long as you're taking a multivitamin and keep taking that protein, you're probably fine at 2.5/week. Once you get closer to your ideal weight, you'll probably have to slow it down some.

I think that people pay too much attention to weight and not enough on body composition. Someone can be in the normal range for BMI but still look like a ball of fat. That's why I think people should pay more attention to the mirror rather than the scale. Keep that protein and weightlifting up to minimize muscle loss. Good luck with the fat loss.
