What is the best and worst thing to happen too you in 2011?

I finally got my much longed-for Whippet pup.

That was the happiest moment in my life for more than 20 years. :D

However, less than a week later ... due to a recurrence of mental health issues which I thought I had defeated years ago ... I had to rehome her as I was totally unable to to take care of myself let alone my little puppy.

That was the worst moment of my life for 20 years. :(


My dreams of happy Whippet-filled life are now dead and buried for good; I've totally given up on the whole idea of ever having pets again. ](*,)
 
Best? Really focusing on and improving my physical, mental, and emotional health by working out and seeing a therapist.

Worst? I guess this is good in a way, but... confirming that the "certified pre-owned" car I financed last winter is going to need about $2k in repairs on top of the $4k a year I'm paying for it already. And that doesn't even include the $1.5k it'll need this year in scheduled maintenance!!

All in all, great year, though. ..|
 
worst thing that has happened to me already this year: my drug addicted, ex con, can't hold down a job, stupid ass brother has been stealing money from my parents, and putting weird charges on their at&t bill. and in one instance he used my name and charged it to their bill, this had been going on for a year, ever since he got out of prison. me and him got into a huge argument. well this is going to be an interesting year.
 
Worst by far: Thinking I was HIV+. The first test came out positive. That was scary

Best (among many other good things from 2011): When it all came out as a false positive with the confirmatory tests. I'm HIV negative!! So the worst fear of the year wasn't true!
 
Worst thing: ending a multi-year relationship (which turned out to be a good thing, but it created a lot of upheaval which was stressful)

Best thing: re-connecting with my dad

I realize that one of the best things was buying out a partner in our farm and getting rid of his horrible partner out of our lives.

And that one of the worst things is that I didn't even regret the loss of a 35 year friendship with our partner because he decided to literally put a price on our friendship.

never mix family and friends with business. my parents manage our family business in dallas. my parents and a few siblings work there. my brother used to work there but he has been addicted to drugs for like the past eight years, he was in jail for four years for posession and battery. when we were all working together i can't tell you how many fights our family has gotten into over all his problems, but the one thing about working with family member, if you get into a fight at work, that fight can go home with you, or to any family gatherings. and vice versa, if you get into a fight with a family member at home, it can follow you to work. i mean it's just too much. if you fire them you have to deal with the aftermath.

how do you get a false positive? just wondering.

First ELISA test shows positive. Elisa is very sensitive, so it sometimes does that if it gets confused with another similar temporary antibody. Western blot, much more accurate, expensive and specific (therefore considered the confirmatory test), showed negative twice. Therefore --> Negative.

As you can see it was the biggest lesson in 2011 for me. Now I'm almost an expert ;)
