Study shows day light saving is not good for society.
Why not just let nature do its job such as summer has more day light than winter of course
and you cannot create more day light out of winter !!! ...

You have more light at the end of the day after you've finished work.

There was a time when it was practical. Now it's so big brother can tell you what time it is, nearly everyone complies even though they detest it.

The energy savings component at this time is probably negligible... I'd rather have continuous time year round anyway, though, instead of the fall back/spring ahead routine though I do like having daylight well into the evening.

It was all about energy savings for many years.

But it is now largely irrelevant in a 24 hour world.

It made sense when it was introduced during WWI and all the lights in the evening came from old-fashioned irricandescent light bulbs. But in the age of LED it adds nothing and only costs money.

Which is why the EU is set to abolish it from 2021. As with most social changes, the USA may adapt five years later, but not much later than that.

The longer evenings are actually more of a problem than an advantage, as it has conditioned several generations into believing they need less sleep than they do. Most people in DST using countries are underslept.

And longer evenings with sunlight also means longer nights without it. In other words, it also means our children have to ride to school on their bikes in the dark for two months longer than necessary.

Just to Fuck with the people because they can....

Research showed day light saving caused more accidents because
people rushing to work ... etc

I think, over here, we also had something called ‘Double Summertime ‘ during WW2. That was summertime plus one hour. It must have been quite something to change from GMT to two hours in front each Spring, and to fall back two hours each Autumn. From what I can see it was to help the farmers and the RAF. I see we are to abolish Summertime whether we leave the EU or not. I personally hate having to change the clocks twice a year, it upsets my body clock. GMT is quite ok.

To be honest it’s most confusing. Our weather service, the Met Office still call winter time GMT rather than UTC. So I don’t know. But from that site linked to, UTC is what it really should be. I wish we could all be in the same time zone with the same time all year round, but that’s just me daydreaming.
