What is wrong with Americans?

I do agree that a lot of Americans do seem insincerely nice. But if you ever work a customer service job you'll see what they're really like.
i reluctantly agree with you. its so true. i would like to know if "the public" as i know it, is similar in other countries. if anybody here has worked service in another country please chime in.

Socialism requires sharing, and Americans are far too selfish, greedy and childish to share anything. It's a nation of strangers where everyone grabs what they can for themselves, and there is no common good any more. It's a culture which has been systematically created by the ruling class in order to prevent socialism from ever happening.

You took the words right out of my mouth. That pretty well sums it up. There isn't any "common good" anymore.

America "claims" to be "Christian", even though, in the last debate, McCain accused Obama of "spreading the wealth around". That sort of accusation is very common here.

Forgive him, a lot of people think America is the Holy Land and that America is the only reason the rest of the world hasn't descended into chaos. Nowadays that's your standard patriotism. "We give more than you, we're better than you, anyone who disagrees can move to Canada."

Are you unhappy??

Again very American.
And how do you run most of these hallowed institutions?
What's the education and citizenship profile of most of the staffing there and even the top management?
Take a look - you'll be a bit surprised and hopefully humbled....unless of course that little broken record player drowns out the voice of reason.
It goes "Im the best, I'm the best......"
All people educated in medicine in the united states spends pretty much all of their 20's in school. 4 years of undergraduate, several number of years in actual medical school. including residency and all that fine stuff.

As for Bill Gates and Steve Jobs, they both come from humble backgrounds, and yes, they did revolutionize...wrong word, INVENTED the computer market. They, AMERICANS, created and distributed computers to the masses, creating a market for them. While many companies in the US and around the world create PC's, it's Microsoft (American) that is on the operating systems, and then there is Apple, which well, it's Apple.

I have been to the US many time and have to go for work and just can't stand it. The only nice Americans I've ever met are ones that left the US..

I go to the US 3 to 4 times a year for about 3 weeks at a time.
I know your lieing out of your ass now. It is probably more that you are a hard person to get along with. I know I am having a hard time liking anything about you right now.

Motion seconded.

Keithbj, I'm the very last person you'd expect to be patriotic, but you sound totally obsessed with the idea that all Americans on American soil are evil. I doubt anyone is going to make you believe otherwise.

Oh boy! another Anti America thread! (!w!) ..........

I often got o NY and Boston for work. You have no idea what your saying. I've been doing that for years now. Typical yank!

It just seems to me that you guys in the US and the gang in Washington just keep saying America the great. And this god bless america stuff. Its like your the center of the universe. You know as well I Americans are known for there "higher than god attitude". Everytime I go to the US I am surprised at how silly most Americans are. Like I said the only true nice Americans I've met are one that left the US and are no living overseas.

Motion seconded.

Both Boston and NY have high levels of rude people, but once they get to know you get to actually know these people, they are the most warm and open people to you. Obviously you don't understand this concept seeing how you are still friendless when you come to the US.

And how the fuck am I, the American, wrong when it comes to knowing about America? Weren't you just saying that all American's seem to care about is America?

And I am not a yank, I am a southerner. But really, who the fuck uses yank in this day and age? It's called "dumb american".

New York and Boston are not the places to find nice Americans!!

The United States is a very large country. To draw conclusions based on visits to two cities is foolish to an extreme.
Shhh, let him act like an "American" and make large false conclusions about a people he has no idea about.

Best example of a socialist country: Argentina -- scarcely a good role model.

India stagnated under socialism for 60 years.

Most of the countries mentioned have rebelled and elected more market-friendly governments.

Most of them do not have a permanent underclass that makes increasing demands on the productive class.

Taxes in the US are higher than generally believed -- the US has the second highest corporate rate in the developed world -- corporations do not pay taxes -- the people do.

Throughout the Cold War the US provided the bulk of defense expenditures for the western world (including Taiwan).

One does not have to live in a socialist country to be a socialist.
My father and I have been socialists for over a hundred years.
He was an American, who died in 1966. In 1958, I registered as a socialist
and have been ever since. I found this thread and the one about
Europeans not at all helpful.

Well there is alot to be anti about. No country is perfect, but I love the way the US always tells others they are wrong.

Actually, if most Americans had their way, we would be isolationist, and wouldn't care about the rest of the world. However, too many countries petition the US for help, and the US keeps saying yes. It's always interesting to hear a self-described foreigner complain about American aid; if you want to see Americans "enforce its viewpoint" less, get everyone else to stop asking for American military aid, buying American products, coming to America for an education, grabbing American consultants, and accepting American financial aid, and you'll see a lot less American influence.

It's a great sentiment, but it just doesn't work in reality. American influence isn't there just because Americans want it, but because we've been requested into the area to help deal with something. Except Iraq; that was just because someone wanted a slap to the back of the head...

America used to be an isolationist country, but WW 1 and 2 happened, and we were pulled in for one reason or another.

That should explain it all, but he doesn't understand that not all Americans are all NASCAR fans that drink beer and say we're number one and 'down with the communist pigs'.

The god bless America crap gets on my nerves, too, and the more recent blasphemous (if I believed in it, but I think it's disrespectful to Islamic people) uttering of 'praise allah' by Bush.

Yes, the USA is very full of itself. Half the people that say the USA is the best country in the world have never stepped outside American borders. It's very obnoxious.

I agree that the Han Chinese should get out of those areas. You also forgot to add Hong Kong. As for Mongolia, you should note there two. Republic Of Mongolia which the USSR controlled indirectly, and the Inner Mongolia Auto Reg.

Second I'm not a citizen of the People's Republic Of China, I'm a citizen of the Republic Of China (Taiwan)

If you were addressing a mainland Chinese I would agree with you on the rest of your statements. But it does not apply to me.

Third I am not Han Chinese, I am Hakka.

Hey! keithbj!:
I say:
All Han out of Formosa!
All Han out of Tibet!
All Han out of Mongolia!
All Han out of the lands of the Miao!
All Han out of Xinjiang!

How do you like them apples, you little son of one of the oldest, most incorrigibly intrusive, imperialist people in history?

And take your hands out of the assholes of your puppet regimes in North Korea and Burma.

I recall two things that Ho Chi Minh, liberator of Viet Nam, said about China in the 1940's (and being american, learning this recently as a tourist in Viet Nam, from a Vietnamese, shocked the hell out of me). When China offered to send troops to help fight against the French occupiers, Ho said: "I would rather smell french shit for ten years than eat chinese shit for the rest of my life." He also said: "The last time the chinese came to visit they stayed 1,000 years."

don't know what u are on about but i sense anger.

You know what Americans are like they think the US is the center of the universe and that the US can't do anything wrong.
They just don't seem to get why so many people around the world don't like them. Maybe if they stayed out of other countries business it would not be like that.
