Actually, if most Americans had their way, we would be isolationist, and wouldn't care about the rest of the world. However, too many countries petition the US for help, and the US keeps saying yes. It's always interesting to hear a self-described foreigner complain about American aid; if you want to see Americans "enforce its viewpoint" less, get everyone else to stop asking for American military aid, buying American products, coming to America for an education, grabbing American consultants, and accepting American financial aid, and you'll see a lot less American influence.
It's a great sentiment, but it just doesn't work in reality. American influence isn't there just because Americans want it, but because we've been requested into the area to help deal with something. Except Iraq; that was just because someone wanted a slap to the back of the head...
