Mine is the Italian film, Ernesto, based on the ''dirty little book'' by Umberto Saba-

Others include

For a Lost Soldier [Dutch]
Europa Europa [German]

Stand By Me
My Girl
The Man in the Moon
Now and Then

Nice genre. Well-done films in this genre with note-perfect performances and a tight script that doesn't waste one moment can make you wince in sympathy or smile at the awkwardness the characters might go through, feel a wash of sadness for their crushing moments, or celebrate their victories big and small. Here's a few (in reverse chronological order, lol) that are solid examples in this genre:

"Call Me By Your Name" (2017)
"Boyhood" (2014)
"The Kings of Summer" (2013)
"The Perks of Being A Wallflower" (2012)
"Submarine" (2010)
"Almost Famous" (2000)
"10 Things I Hate About You" (1999)
"Now & Then" (1995)
"My Girl" (1991)
"Stand by Me" (1986)
"The Breakfast Club" (1985)

American Graffiti (1973)
Forrest Gump (1994)
Friday Night Lights (2004)
Stand By Me (1986)
Ferris Bueller’s Day Off (1986)
Hoop Dreams (1994)

I am sure there’s another good one that I can’t think of at the moment. Not gonna say SuperBad cause I hated that movie.

Beautiful Thing. It still makes me happy and sad at the same time.
