  • Hi Guest - Did you know?
Hot Topics is a Safe for Work (SFW) forum.

What is your greatest accomplishment?

Staying alive ... I once thought that I would've kicked it in the head by the time I was 25* ... and yet here I am, still alive at more than twice that age.:gogirl:

*Yep, an 'All The Young Dudes' reference.

You know, my first ex-gf had the same thought. She died several years back, choking on her own vomit. Was mostly her own fault, although her husband got charged. Simple situation that got..complicated quickly. I think she overlived her 'sell-by' date by a year, though not for lack of trying.

^ They don't charge your husband if you die an alcoholic, do they?

I - did - say it got complicated. He accidentally set off an aneurysm when he was trying to remove his thumb from her mouth as she was trying to bite it off. She tended to have the severely understated ability to get mean on everything but weed. Tbf, pretty sure alcohol was also involved.

-On the upside, last I heard he made bail (actually, his father made bail) and refuses to let the kids see her parents, which to me is an excellent idea as they're both alcoholics. Hopefully everythings' going fine but I avoid the lot of them these days, more mental trouble than it's worth.

Becoming a better person and having a wonderful relationship with my spouse!

Looking after my mum after her stroke and myocardial infarction that left her unable to walk. The doctors gave her 2 years max. She stayed on for six, saw another grandchild, and a great grandchild being born. I think children gives the elderly hope and a new lease of life. I'm glad my son was part of her life and was able to make her laugh again after her change in mobility and motility.

I would say that taking care of my mother and becoming her guardian after her dementia set in.

At the worst possible time in my life, I returned to school and finished my law degree. Two weeks ago Iearned that I was elected Valedictorian and have to write a speech for my convocation. I write the bar exam in November. But what I am most proud of is that almost four years ago I quit smoking.

Marrying the man of my dreams, having two beautiful children and now a granddaughter with one more on the way!
