  • Hi Guest - Did you know?
Hot Topics is a Safe for Work (SFW) forum.

what is your opinion of non-Christians who wear rosaries? people who wear band shirts that dont listen to that band?

It was my understanding that the rosary is not to be worn, even by priests and nuns. And if it is worn, that it is to be worn so that it can't be seen.

...and it's most certainly not to be inserted into the anus and then pulled out bead by bead!

It isn't easy being Divine...

I'm more annoyed by people who wear another band's shirt to a concert. What's the point? "Yeah I'm at a Metallica concert, but I also listen to *your band name here*." Are we meant to be impressed? Or are you a bigger fan of that other band but have decided to slum it here at the Metallica gig?

On topic, I'm not religious. But I know people who are and for whom religion is extremely important, so as a mark of respect for them I would not wear religious imagery for the sake of being fashionable. I find the notion extremely distasteful.

Likewise with dog-tags, if I'm honest.

Come to think of it, that's what a Benedictine monk once told me, too. The only people who are actually to wear a rosary are certain monastics, according to him.

He wore a Rosary of the Psalms, with one large bead for each Psalm followed by small beads for its verses -- you can imagine how long it was! He wore it as a belt for his robe, which made it legit because it was thus functional -- nothing non-functional was allowed to be worn.

LOL

A guy at a concert I went to wore another band's shirt -- he wanted someone to object so he could rip it off and get attention and go shirtless.

If I'd been out to myself, even, back then, I would have gotten people yelling at him just to watch the shirt come off.

That's interesting.

I have one that hangs down below my knees (rosary, boys, relax). I figured that it had to be something unusual, but never researched it. I don't even remember where I got it. I've had it for years.

Oh, and all of the beads are small and the same size.

I don't care one way or the other.

I am somewhat Roman Catholic, by culture more then by conviction, and the fact that non catholics wear rosaries does not take anything form my personal faith...

Just like someone who would make himself a portable advertisement vehicule for a band that he does not listen does take anything from me...

That's fine, and I don't want to tell you, or try to convince you that you should be offended.

But, if someone wears something for no other reason than to offend you, well, that is not situation where I can simply say, "I don't care".

Then there is the fakery side to this, also. I don't care much for that, either.

I think it's completely up to them and we have no say in the matter so we should stop judging and go get some frozen yogurt <3

Your neighbors don't landscape or put up holiday displays on their front lawns so you'll look away.

What if one of your neighbors installed a statue of Mary raking leaves with an upside down menorah? Do you think they'd expect people to not judge them? Wouldn't it be better if a few of their neighbors let them know that it's really not cool, or fun, or cute?

They can wear whatever pleases them.

Oh, how rude

Do you think people adorn themselves with trinketry and get all painted up just to have you ignore them?

Get your lazy ass out there and judge! Today!

;)

No biggie.

I wear dogtags and have never been or will be in the army.

That's just your license. Are you current with all your shots? Good boy. Now sit here and chew on this bone *unzips trousers*

My opinion of them is that they are people who like a symbol or artwork that they don't identify with, yet still appreciate the physical beauty of.

We can file that under the "not that serious" files.

It would be fitting if he used his teeth after this comment. :p

My partner's done that before. He can get quite "excited" around my cock and sometimes temporary loses his humanity for a time. HE can be quite the beast in bed, or on the kitchen table, or on the sofa, or in the garage, or in the backseat of one of the cars, or in the hot tub, or in the bath tub, or in the pool, or in the shower, or on the pool table, or..... Well you get the idea. He doesn't wear rosaries (he ain't Catholic), and he rarely wears shirts (with or without band images/emblems), he prefers the feel of my flesh rubbing against his at every possible opportunity. I think he's addicted.

What's a rosary? If you gave one to someone who didn't know what it was, or the religious significance, then it's just a necklace, nothing more. Sometimes a cigar is just a cigar.

Most of my classmates are not Christians, yet they wear cross necklaces. I find that a bid odd but not too bothered by that.
