So, just to be an ass - how do all of you artificial scent fans deal with hospitals, public transit, and other places that ask people not to use scents, or bans them outright?

i wear Halston, it's very 80's but i like the way it smells..i wear cologne so infrequently that one bottle lasts alooooooooong time.

I'll bite - I DON'T PUT A TON ON. A man knows how to wear cologne correctly; a boy plays with it(at least that's what my father and grandfather taught me).

I've never been told that I couldn't wear cologne on a train or a bus, but the ban, i'll assume, applies to excess. Which goes back to the sentence above.

But, you're the guy that likes people do to their research... where was yours when you posted this?

Hospitals here request no scents at all - none. Its a request, though, not a rule. When my life-partner went in for surgery in June I saw almost as many "no perfumes" signs as "please wash your hands" signs.

A ban on all artificial scents was proposed for our public transit a year or two ago, but that never got off the ground.

My signature scent is JOOP, but I like to switch it up so I also use:

Jaguar, FCUK, Marc Jacobs Men, Bulgari Blue, Jovan Musk (yes, old school), and Canoe (old school again).

and there is a bunch of others on my shelf too.

I used to wear this too, it really is a good fragrance.
