  • Hi Guest - Did you know?
Hot Topics is a Safe for Work (SFW) forum.

What language did you learn in school and can you speak it?

Latin, through to Higher level.

A dead language which did help me many years later at university.

Tempus Fugit and all that.

Yeah, 'coitus interruptus' and all that, we get it.

I love Latin and wish that I had taken it in University or whenever.

Now I am old. And not inclined to focusing on learning things like languages in favour of time spent on conservation and other causes.

It is like my regrets for not having taken piano lessons.

Latin saved me incredible amounts of study time when I tackled botany: all those scientific names came easily!

I took French in high school, but once I no longer had access to a TV channel that had programs (like Jacques Cousteau) in French I lost most of it.

My sister took me through a year's worth of German, but about all I remember is "Vir gehen shkinny-dippen" (which I probably butchered the spelling).

I took Spanish for working at a church in Miami, and retain enough to get by with Hispanics here.

Luke Ranieri speaks Latin fluently and has a YouTube channel. Here he is talking about a program to learn Latin and also other languages.

I'm in love with the guy:
