No Mac here... Last time I owned an Apple was the Apple ][+ (remember those? ;) ). What I commonly use is my HP Notebook:

- Windows XP Pro SP2
- Intel Centrino Duo processor T2500 (2 ghz)
- 17.0" WXGA+ Ultra BrightView Widescreen
- 256MB NVIDIA GeForce Go 7400
- 2.0GB DDR2 SDRAM
- 100 GB SATA HD
- LightScribe 8x DVD+/-RW&CD-RW Combo w/Double Layer
- Intel PRO/Wireless 3945ABG w/Bluetooth
- HP Mobile Remote Control

Was thinking of trying out an Apple Notebook... Do they have one equivalent to the above as far as hardware/speed goes?

I had a...

Ibook g3, 12" 500MHZ 10gig, maxed it out to it's max which was 512MB of ram, combo drive, and I installed tiger on it got it for 550
then gave it to my ex.. He just loved it...

also I had a

IbookSE g3, 466MHZ, 6 GIG, MAC os 9. combo drive dvd rom and just a standard cd rom drive... of it's time, sold it on ebay...

NOW...

I have a

Powerbook G4, 15" 1.67GHZ... 80gig hd, superdrive, built in bluetooth, airport extreme, and I love this thing

my nest would be a desktop mac,a iMac or a mini or something...

Try this link click here and judge for yourself as this shows a comparison between the MacBook and MacBook Pro

you can't compare the new core duo or the powerpc prozessor with the "old" pentiums. for most task, 1,66 will do just fine.

G4 dual 867. 3HD's. 1.5 gig ram. Anything faster and I would be getting speeding tickets.
Don't get sucked in by the MHz myth.

Why is it that people without MAC's are so angry?

It is human nature so it seems, after making a bad choice, one must defend that choice to the death rather than be seen as someone who made a bad choice. In other words if you bought a PC and had it crash all the time and get virii etc and had to re-install the OS 2 or 3 times a year, then someone showed you a different computer that didn't have these problems, rather than go out and buy one you would tell everybody that yours was way better. [-X

I've got a white MacBook, with 1GB of RAM and an 80 GB HD
Before that I had an old school indigo iMac DV+ that I had for like six years.
It was old, but still working decently enough.

I have the black MacBook (with intel duo core 2,0Ghz and 80GB HD) and added 512MB ram. It is my first mac ever, and I am very happy that I left windows behind me :)

I have been a Mac user since November 2003, and loving it. We do have a Sony PC for my partner, he constantly asks for help with his computer.............always something going wrong with it (it is only 5 months old!) like spyware, virus crap, software crashing, etc.

17-inch widescreen display
8x double-layer SuperDrive
One FireWire 400, one FireWire 800, and two USB 2.0 ports
1.5 GHz PowerPC G4
512MB DDR SDRAM
Mac OS X, Version 10.4.7
Airport Express wireless internet access with cable connection.

iLife 06, iWork 06

.mac internet services; for email, building webpages & blogs, online bookmark management, calendars and much more!

My mac does freeze sometimes, but all of the good times out weighs any negatives.

well for me it all started a long time ago with an apple IIc (not a mac but that was where i started with apples) then:
mac classic
quadra 950
powermac 7500
imac 333
wallstreet powerbook g3
and most recently a mac mini
i think that was all the macs i ever owned but i could have missed one somewhere

wait just remembered my powerbook 5300 and how could i forget that cause it was awesome other then the recalls on it :-)

None currently! Although if I do get any more serious about music production as a profession (curently taking intermediate classes 8 hours a day 3 days a week) I might have to get one soon.

I just bought a Mac mini yesterday and am of course playing with it today.

So fart so good, but no gushing declarations of love yet, LOL.

I bet it has nothing to do with how smug apple users act. ;)
