And perhaps they don't act like that because they aren't they. This group of people isn't the archetype for their race or culture. They're the equal of a gang.

This is entirely true. I have never seen it in my small experiences of the middle east, and I asked my partner about this (he lived in Jordan for close to ten years, while also working and visiting all the countries of the middle east) and he agreed this wasn't typical of Middle Eastern people.

It sounds like it was a cheap family, trying to get the most out of a deal - not a middle eastern thing, rather a cheap 'I want it all' western thing.

Sure, we corrupted them...

Well you do celebrate people doing shit like extreme couponing in the US - which is essentially buying everything because it has a slight discount, whether you need it or not.

It is the culture that they bring with them, I don't care about their skin color, religion or national origin. The word is acclimate.
Don't bring your rude customs into an American store and expect people to not notice.

If you want to run a party store that's fine, buy your shit wholesale, don't pilfer the fucking shelves so you can sell to folks who by in large are unable to get to a supermarket.

Don't scare little old ladies away from the meat counter or put employees in the hospital.

When in Rome...

Part of the problem is the store not taking control of this. Again I don't see how this a cultural thing as much as just being greedy.

We have some that make a hobby or game of it, personally I almost see it as a sign of OCD when one has to buy something that they don't need just to prove that they can get a deal.
Many folks that do this are hoarders, their homes are packed full of thongs and stuff.

Again, I think that this is far different from store owners clearing out a stores shelves so they can drive 10 or 15 miles and stock their own and double the price.

Again, welcome to America, run your party store, fuck people with your high prices, you won't see me... but I don't want to see you in
your get it all mode.... buy your shit wholesale.

I have never seen another group or culture that is so readily identifiable act this way. Individuals may take an asshole pill at times, but why make it a family event?

I have little doubt that the capitalists have fit the description that you give, but, I do remember a time in America when one did their shopping on Saturday as the stores were closed on Sunday. I am sure it had something to do with religion at one time, but it was more of an attitude that we all needed to take a day off when I was a boy.

Even on my first full time job at McDonalds we posted a sign that said we would be closed on Christmas day, or Thanksgiving or Easter
so our employees could spend time with their families.

America has indeed become far more greedy, at least the rich have.

But we digress, my thread was about a group of people organizing in a store to keep others from products on sale. I have dealt with them in the past, they load a cart with pop (on sale) and pay for it then run it out to their car and throw (I watched) it in to the car so they can go back and get another load.
I was in my car watching as I had just parked, they slammed their fucking door into my vehicle and never flinched, they have no manners or etiquette.

I have never seen another ethnic group act in such a way, say what you will, maybe an individual asshole or a mob at some store opening, but, again, it's not planned out by a family/clan/group as it is with these darlings of the mid-east.

It has nothing to do with their ethnicity. You are only landing on this because of the rampant bias against visible minorities.

I've heard the same story about the pushy Chinese, the gypsies, the Indians etc. etc. over the years. Whichever group was the flavour of the month for others to hate on.

oh...and I've actually had little old white ladies almost grab shit out my hand that was being offered 'free'.

Invariably, it comes down to individuals or small group pack mentality...

I can assure you that the middle easterners in our stores are, if anything, reticent to push themselves forward.

America is by its nature a country that celebrates every man for himself and glorifies personal greed.

Just shop somewhere different.

I find it incredible that it always comes back to America, us greedy fuckers.
Why don't I see Americans doing these things? The answer is that I don't, not as a group.
So, I can live in this cesspool of blatant greed all of my life and not be tinged by it, but, let someone step off of a plane and the virus of greed and corruption strikes.

I don't see why them being in a group and others not being in a group matters. People exhibit this behaviour anywhere regardless, and the group mentality here is again at fault for allowing these people to continually do it. The store doesn't care that these people do it because they are making the money.

This most definitely is the stores or companies faults because they allow people to do these things because they are making the money. That is all that matters in the end. I have worked in a store before that was robbed on a daily basis and the company always focused on employee theft and 2 times over a year span they gave us a security guard. You could have gotten fired from this store for opening a bottle of soda before paying for it even if you were clearly intending to pay for it, it has happened. Most of these companies do not care for the employees or the customers as long as they keep coming in and spending the money regardless of how they do it.

When 6-8 people stand in front of a meat counter jibber jabbering away with each other and will not move having a group matters,
one person can't pull this on their own, you have to bring the whole bunch.
I can not block a counter on my own.

The store as you say allows this, as you have pointed out I suspect that they don't give a shit, it's the bottom line that matters.
How ever, I believe in personal responsibility, if a group of people act this way and I see it time and time again, I call it like I see it.

I should not have to shop at another store to avoid assholes. Should I ask if they would like my lunch money?

You are blaming this on Middle Eastern people, yet I have never witnessed this behaviour in Europe or the Middle East. I really think you might want to think about that.

Perhaps I should shift the blame to party store owners, most just happen to be of mid eastern decent in the Detroit area.

Maybe you should remember that next time you are tempted to condemn Americans as greedy, rude, arrogant and xenophobic.
Are we not as much individuals here as anywhere else?

A dead give-away as to racial perspective is the use of the phrase 'jibber jabbering away'.....

This sounds like the kind of thing the angry racist Uncle says at the family dinner party when there is actually a person with non-English speaking immigrant parents and grand-parents attending as a guest of one of the kids home from college.

The fact is....almost everyone has pointed out that this isn't a cultural thing. This is a pack of people determined to get what they came for. A good deal. And I suspect they got it.

A whole bunch of cheap cuts of meat.

Maybe the next time, the store will come up with a smarter way to incite consumer panic and greed.

May the odds ever be in your favour.

I like Jason's idea of using pork. Lean in close to the nearest burka-clad woman and ask her if she would mind handing you that big, fat, juicy sausage. Then wink at her.

OK, now I am a racist for proving that it was a group together speaking the same language to one another. What bullshit.
I don't know if stores in Canada have sales or not, personally I buy what I need, not what's on sale.

As I pointed out in the OP, I had to help a little old lady get some of this cheap meat that you refer to.

As a cheep, greedy, racist, warmongering, capitalist American, I helped an old lady and yes the assholes who pushed her around pissed me off, maybe Canadians don't help old ladies, I was raised differently.

I'm pretty sure stereotyping Americans is merely in keeping with the character of this thread.

It was not the intent of posting this to stereotype any one, I have pointed out what I have seen on numerous occasions and what the management readily agrees happens, management won't act as they don't want to be accused of stereotyping people.

You don't get away with this kind of deflection.

Whenever I hear someone describe people speaking to one another as 'jibber-jabber', all becomes clear.

I am glad that you helped a little old lady. Yes, I was raised that way too.

And no, I don't like assholes and probably would have called them out on their rudeness and behaviour right there and then. I certainly have no shyness about doing that no matter the race or cultural background of rude, pushy people.

But I wouldn't paint an entire culture like you have here.

But I would still say that these folks epitomize the Libertarian American ethos. Self interest first.

Let the Hunger Games begin.
