  • Hi Guest - Did you know?
Hot Topics is a Safe for Work (SFW) forum.

What sport would you like to see played on the moon?

LOL

This brings to mind the classic quote: "Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic".

Would be perfect wouldn't it? Just need some kind of low power thruster on a seat and you could play Quidditch.

Amateur pro wrestling is no redkneck game. Someone could get killed.

I sugest you study it.

I guess you missed the reference. Jesse Ventura once admitted to a reporter than eery single move in pro wrestling is choreographed ahead of time -- just like ballet, except for rednecks.

The snitch, etc., would be drones, obviously -- those would be easy to do. But the brooms... a power plant and fuel supply would have to be pretty potent, even in lunar gravity. But give us a decade of experience on the moon, and it could be done!

Hey -- maybe Quidditch fans could be organized to crowd fund a moon base! :D

Your thinking of wwe and TNA ( which are sccripted wrestling promotions) ameteur wrestling is much more dangerous.

Kurt Angle and Brock lesnar.

I was a wrestler. Wrestling has rules that keep it safe. If you're referring to people imitating the choreographed dance of pro 'wrestling', you're not even talking about wrestling, but brawling.

Then you should know how dangerous it can be.

High diving.

The slowed time to fall would enable the evolution of an even more graceful technique, although it would be challenged by being unable to execute as many forceful moves perhaps, with less to push against.

One odd aspect of the thread is that no one is accounting for the as-yet rather bulky suits. Whereas a brief cartridge of oxygen could be worn for the brief high diving, there isn't a thermal suit yet that is form fitting like scuba, or is there? Freeze bad, heat good.

An indoor pool on the moon could be pressurized. The only suit required is spandex.

and your idea wins.

I think it would be great for synchronized diving.

Well...

For the purposes of the thread, let's assume that either we have giant domes with atmosphere inside, or are using space suits good enough not to screw up the ability to play.

There are people saying we have the capability of putting a dome over downtown New Orleans, like a square mile under glass, so it should be possible to have such on the moon!

LOL

One article I read, which proposed a dome over a Texas city, tried to give a layman's description of how a dome that big could be made of glass. It sort of boiled down to "It's not ordinary glass" -- which was really helpful....
