The whole "we'll replace "cable" with a smorgasbord of ala carte overpriced crap makes me think society isn't getting smarter, despite the whold "we've got the entire collection of human knowledge online" claim. If you add up the various costs of internet, streaming services, and gaming platforms, it's a bit staggering to consider how much more people are paying for entertainment than they once did.

I've known people who have saved money over cable, though. I suspect this might be one of those things that can vary, depending local cable prices and what one wants to watch.

No streaming service. I'm too cheap to pay for such a service, not to mention the hardware needed to access it. (I guess I could use the computer--but I spend enough time at it as it is.)

My viewing is mainly DVDs that I check out from the local library. I love the every day low cost of $0! And they have a good collection.

I also buy DVDs in thrift stores. Mostly stuff I know and know I'll watch again.

I'm beginning to see why Julius Caesar went so heavily in debt to sponsor the games for the public as he sought to gain control and rise to power. Wonder if there was free beer and peanuts involved.

I assume your awareness and world-savviness is not restricted to just the entertainment department: it is hugely staggering to consider the price that must be paid to keep our financial system running while it speeds full-throttle to the cliff, and no better way to heavily tax people to fuel that than through whatever tinks their kink.

CBC Gem, we got PIK TV as a free trial when we switched to fibre but it’s pretty pointless. Then Apple TV+, britbox, Smithsonian channel & BBC select.
