My take from the whole thing is Dominus needs to do a better job of vetting his renters
 
I would agree, but I had a young couple who rented a property I had adjacent to my childhood home.

And then he murdered his infant son.

And my Mom stuck through it all with his wife who also went through the wringer.

And while his wife was lovely, the first time I met him after he had rented the house, all I thought was 'This guy is seriously fucked'.

But it was intuition and not fact based.

And then there was the trial and the conviction.

And it remains one of my greatest tragedies and errors as a landlord. But I look back...and can't see how I would have known.

And I let the house sit empty for some years until someone bought it who would tear it down.
