Dontchathink being on an island could have contributed to their biogeographical isolation.... or is that what one of them other models is gonna end up saying?

I prefer the socal constructivist viewpoint that says Malta continued in trade/exchange of material goods but constructed their identity by differentiating themselves culturally from the 'foreign' and liturgical differences, thus affirming their own socio-religious authenticity.

However trying to stretch 'Them and Us' to 10,000 words is quite a task.

'Them and Us'... that's what I said: Classic island mentality .... but I can see your problem with the 10000 words, when 3 sentences already seems like a lot.

What about adding some modern day comparisons, like the differentiation of Swiss gaydar from that of surrounding Euroland... could be good for another few sentences, no?
