There are enough brands of toothpaste out there that it could take an entire year trying them all.

It seems to me that the cost of toothpaste is rising almost like gas prices. Not counting the store brands, the ones I've known for years like Crest or Colgate seem to be at the top of the list in cost.

What's your brand, and how much does it cost where you live?

Here, Crest is anywhere from $6-$10! Same for Colgate. Don't even get me started on those that target specific groups like Synsodene or all the whitening toothpastes for smokers and coffee drinkers.

After the big scare last year my primary requirement is "Made in the U.S.A.". If it doesn't have that, it's off my shopping list.

I like Colgate Total and the Crest Pro-Health brands. They both make my teeth feel slick and smooth all day. I cannot even tell you the last time I had that "furry" feeling on my teeth...even in the morning! I am a little surprised by the prices you're quoting though....but then you're in Atlanta and things are more expensive there. I do not pay more than $3 or $4 for the biggest tube they sell of either brand.

Holy crap gmo! Are they using crushed up diamonds instead of baking soda where you are? ;)

I really love Crest Pro-Health (as senorserio said above) - it's one of my favorite ones that I've found. That, and a lot of the Arm & Hammer ones are pretty good too.

I can't stand anything cinnamon though :help:

I wish they were using diamonds. That might help get my teeth whiter! #-o

The most recent trip to the grocery store, I found this Crest Healthy Radiance

I know it comes with the white strips, but it's still highly priced if you ask me!

Whoa! I guess grocery and HBA prices are higher in Atlanta!

I just came from Tops, WNY's #2 supermarket chain (after Wegmans). I bought two tubes of Crest Pro Health for $5. (they were on sale this week)

This link takes you to the store locator. Set it for NY and "Gates" and when that page comes up, select "weekly circular" It's on page 5.

Ya know, I bought the Listerine whitening strips, and my idiot ass doesn't even use them - either a.) I'm too lazy or b.) I forget. Mostly the former ;)

But of all the ones I have tried (which is virtually all of them) the Listerine strips are the one I like the best. They dissolve without too much of a gooey mess - and some of them you have to remove anyways which is stupid imho.

I also enjoy the Crest Pro Health mouthwashes.

Note - I don't work for Crest either :D

I usually buy my toothpaste at Big Lots for about $1 a tube. I get Colgate, Ultrabrite, whatever they have.

I hate paying lots of money on toothpaste.

Go to your local DOLLAR store and buy it for $1 a tube. Just check the country of origin.

I use the Crest - Cinnamon Rush. It is good, taste wise.

It costs about $3.50.

I like Crest Baking Soda Peroxide Whitening with Tartar Protection, Fresh Mint flavor. It makes my mouth feel all tingly. I don't really know how much it costs, the Grandmother pays for that sort of thing so I never really notice; but Drugstore.com has it at $2.99 for an eight and a half ounce tube.

Ideally, I like Crest pro-health, followed by Crest pro-health mouthwash in the morning, and pro-health mouthwash 'night' in the evening. (yes, I'm the geek that fell for the concept of 'night mouthwash')

But, prices being what they are, (I thought $4.50 for Crest was bad enough)
I took Consumer Reports advice and tried UltraBrite for $1.59 a tube.

It's pretty good, but I still miss Crest.

I think I'm using Aquafresh these days, but that's just what they had in the 5-pack (or whatever) at Costco last time I needed to buy toothpaste. I'm really not convinced there's any difference between any of the brands of toothpaste with regard to how well they clean your teeth. The actual brushing is WAY more important than the toothpaste, believe it or not.

Mentadent for me.

I went 11 years without going to the dentist and when I finally went, they asked me what I was using as my teeth were in really good shape for going that long without a checkup and professional dental cleaning.

I give credit to Mentadent...as well as the fact that I dropped sodas from my diet and I don't drink coffee. ..|

I'm into Aquafresh too!

HEY!

If the price of toothpaste gets up to $10 a tube here, I will just go back to what "they" use to use in the frontier days.......baking soda/salt and then use some kind of freshening "something" to fresh the smell of the breath...

I know for sure that the old fashioned way "does" whiten your teeth and does leave the mouth feeling clean...

What-the-hells-goin-on-with-the-price-of-it-ALL???????(*8*)

Try Tom's of Maine. Some people will be glad for this suggestion. Tom's doesn't have saccharine.
There's w/fluoride and without.

I'm not sure the price of toothpaste, but right now I've got enough to stock a small army....

My mother works in a pharmacy, and when they push supplies off the shelf to make room for more stuff, the old stock that isn't shipped back is thrown in the staff room and up for grabs...

Although, the one I do buy for myself, which is a colgate brand; is about 5 or 6 dollars...
