By that I mean which basic terrestrial channels, without satellite, as if tuning in a new television the first time.

In Britain, we get....

BBC One
BBC Two
ITV
Channel 4
five

BBC One and ITV vary their content slightly depending on the region of Britain you live, so you can get your regional news for 30 minutes, and regional sport at the weekends.

I've no idea how it works in other countries, or how it varies depending on your region in each country.

Any info?

ABC
NBC-fuzzy
CBS-barely
FOX
CW

But you need a digital tuner.

We have hundreds of choices, and consequently I watch very little television.

I have satelite provision, and I yearn for simpler days. I like television, but my life does not give much importance to any of it. I do like the BBC, especially for world news and also I am an inveterate fan of "The Vicar of Dibley."

CNN ..I.m stopping here lol... I have a choice to over 200 channels.

IN the province we have all the same choices...The difference is during news time the local news take over.

When I bought my TV there were already 100s of channels on it.

I do remember when there were only five though.

ABC 1...ABC 2...ABC 3...Channel 7...Channel 7 Two...Channel 9....Channel Go...SBS 1...SBS 2...Channel One (sports)...And I'm happily about (it goes off in the next few days) to get rid of Cable TV (after 15 years I don't have an interest in watching 155 channels anymore)

I have tons, but mostly watch 2: FoxNews and BBCAmerica.

That was one of my biggest grips with cable tv here...Why the fuck do we need to have FoxNews as part of our channel lineup..rediculous really....:) Sorry to go way off topic...

I have no clue ... haven't had a TV for years ;)

QVC in England? Well I never...

Thanks to my friends at Time Warner Cable, (and the $83. monthly bill) I get literally hundreds of channels on the digital cable.

Without it, I have no clue, since I haven't had over-the -air TV since 1976! I do know that the local network affiliates (ABC,NBC, CBS, PBS, & Fox) are there, and I think all of them operate at least one sub-channel. For example, the ABC station, WHAM Channel 13, also operates Channel 13.2, which is the CW station in Rochester for those who do not have cable. WHEC, Channel 10 (NBC), operates 10.2 which has continuous weather forecasts.

DIGITAL STATIONS:

NBC and ABC from three markets.

CBS from two markets.

Fox from two markets.

Public Broadcasting (PBS) from four markets. (All of these PBS stations have multiple channels at once.)

The CW from two markets.

Religion (Trinity--TBN, et. al.) from one market.

MyTV, ThisTV each from one market.

Weather scans from three markets.

Some of these are digital sub-channels, and I'm probably forgetting a few.

ANALOG (NOT DIGITAL):

TBN [religion] from one market.

However, using somewhat beefed-up outdoor antennas with antenna rotators, I've picked up terrestrial TV signals from more than 40 states, 7
Canadian provinces, 9 Mexican states, Cuba, Dominican Republic, Panama, Puerto Rico, Trinidad, Australia in the past 24 years. Reception from Canada and Mexico is actually fairly common here in Illinois in late spring and early summer.
