Friendship 7

Man landing on the moon! I do remember seeing lots of stories on the Vietnam War, but not any specific stories. The moon landing is definitely stuck in my memory.

All the assisinations and the civil rights movement of the early 60's. A very sad time in our history.

OJ Simpson in kindergarten... my kindergarten teacher drove a white bronco.

The fall of Berlin Wall, 1989, when I was 8.
I had listened at school about it. I remember watching to berliners climbing up the wall, before going to bed. That was a good way to end the day.

Burt & Ernie's wedding on Sesame Street. ;)

I did not pay attention to news when I was very young. To say that I had a very protective childhood would be an understatement.

However, I do remember seeing Walter Conkrite. They had real news back then.

:(

I remember one day my teacher making a big deal out of a shuttle being launched into space and telling us to watch the news about it.

It carried the Hubble Telescope. I'm now my what my teacher's age was back then (wow) and I see it as big deal too.

The announcement on radio of the end of WWII. I was with my mother and grandma driving along CrenshawBlvd on a shopping trip . OMG, am I really that old???

The Cuban Missile crisis.

Yup. Me, too. I used to sit outside at night and look up at the sky watching for the missiles to fly over my head.

Scared the shit out of me. I was convinced the world was going to end.

Good question.
The British heatwave and drought of Summer 1976. (I would have been nearly 6 years old)
