Mine was being fed After Eights by my dad as my mum and his mistress my mums best friend tore the hell out of each other in the other room after my mum discovered they'd been having an affair for years and they were going off together.

Lucky escape for my mum and myself in retrospect.

What was your first memory in life.

What I tell everyone....I popped out of my mother's vagina and looked at her and said OH FUCK....kill me now....

My real first memory....when she actually tried.....

I had to block out a lot of stuff along the way in order to survive....drugs and alcohol helped...but not enough..it all came back anyway...

My nice memories were when my Grandmother took me to the Woolworth's lunch counter and basement almost every day..and my Grandpa reading to me and falling asleep on his big belly...

My first memory is waking up in the attic room at my grandparents house by myself where my parents and I lived and being afraid to go downstairs because I had to cross through the unfinished part of the attic and sometimes birds got into to the attic. I may have been four or five already so I don't have any really early memories.

There are several, but I don't know which is first:

Our dog, Sport
Sitting on a log on a saw horse while my brothers sawed firewood
Running in the foundation hole when our new kitchen was being built
Playing in a tomato crate while my mother picked tomatoes
(Most likely, though,) Sitting at the top of the stairs waiting for Mom & Dad to wake up and call us down on Christmas morning

All these guys were babbling French and taking over. Their armo(u)r seemed a lot better than ours.

And my father smelled of elderberries.

I vaguely recall recounting it in this forum already. It's the image of my Uncle Chinky looking down on me in my crib with double reflections of the light coming through Venetian blind slats in his black thick rimmed glasses. ...Or it could've been Dr. Russo, sans his cigar, making a house call as they looked a lot alike.

You English kih-NIG-its! I fart in your general direction!

Yes, I remember that being said at the time. It was all very discouraging.

I remember being just a toddler, maybe around 3, picking up the garden hose and spraying my dad as he washed the car. I remember dropping the hose and running. That's it. I don't know if he caught me or not, but I probably got my ass beat

I remember thinking, "god, I wish they would wrap me in a blanket, it's colder than hell out here".

Seriously, I have many memories from around the age of three, I am not sure which event happened first.
One time as most toddlers do, I was with my mother as she got dressed, I picked up an item and asked what it was, she yelled to "put that down!" I realized latter in my life that it was a Kotex pad.

Being aware of being in my crib and of the room around me. I would have been about 1 and a half years old I think.

My earliest coherent memory goes back to 1960 when the whole family moved into our brand new home - a two storey house with a huge front and back yard.

I was 3 years old and my mom sat me in the living room in front of the television to keep me out of the way while the rest of the furniture was being brought in.

The TV show was called, "Happy", a 1960 comedy show about a talking baby:

^ One of my other memories from around the age of 2 was having a paediatric cardiologist sing "I'm Popeye the Sailor Man" to me at Hospital for Sick Children. It was the beginning of a life long affair with all things medical.

Aren't borrowed memories precious? :)

My first memory was aged about 2
I was laying on the kitchen table and the Dr was examining me as my foreskin was tight
I remember him saying to my mother 'It will loosen with use. Move it back and forth every day in the bath'
I have always taken that to mean that masterbation is medically approved!

This is a joke, right? :)

Seems some people would have us believe that their childhood development more closely resembled that of a modern chimpanzee than that of a modern human.

For crying out loud, the 'prolonged' development of the modern human brain is one of the biggest mysteries/puzzlements of human evolution.

The human brain does not develop the ability to retain 'complex/long-term' memories until around 3 – 4yoa – closer to 4.

If you think you remember events from before this age, it's far more likely [believable] that you have remembered stories/memories that others have told/recalled over the years and incorporated them as your own.
