What were the first few cars you remember your parents driving?

The first car I remember had 'suicide doors'. I still have the scar on my lip to show what you shouldn't do with them.

Was it a Lincoln Continental?

The first car I remember was a 1963 Olds Starfire. Looked just like this one. Bright red paint, white stripe. Except ours had a white seats. My Dad liked red cars.

I've received two post comments on this. Thanks guys.
(I have never figured out how to respond directly to post comments. Can someone please enlighten me?)

My Dad traded this car two years later for a 1965 Starfire. We were going on trip to the Grand Canyon and the "63 didn't have air conditioning.

The first one was an Audi - don't recall the model. It was dark green - I do recall that much.

The second was a black Ford Granada, with red interior.

You can't. What I tend to do is see if that person has posted in that same thread, and then comment on THEIR post. Or else leave a "visitor message" on their page.

There's no way to direct respond. Only easy way is to go to the thread and comment if they left a post, or send them a pm by clicking on their name in the comment.

I bought a Chevy Vega in 1971.
Just like this one.

My dad was a GM guy through and through...

Earliest car I remember was his 1960 Chevy Belair, which was exactly like this (right down to the same color)

He traded it in for a brand new 1966 Chevy Malibu, exactly like this one.

In 1972, we became a two-car family, and he bought my Mom a brand new Malibu exactly like this one. In fact, we drove it out of the showroom!

In 1974, he traded in the 1966, and bought himself a Chevy Nova. It was our first 4-door car.

In 1977, he traded in the Nova, drove the '72 Malibu himself, and bought my mother a brand new Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme exactly like this one. That would become my first car!

It was something like this, but I want to say an '88 or '89.

1989 Pontiac Firebird (I thought it was the coolest thing in the world). It was small but I remember all my parents, brother and I jamming into it and taking road trips to South Carolina and Pennsylvania from NY:

My mom drove an early 1990's Ford Clitaurus with the number buttons on the keypad to unlock the car:

My dad owned a red Camaro, I'm fairly sure the model was from nineteen-eighty-something.

1956 Chevrolet 210 2-door sedan w/ 2 tone black and white paint. 6 cylinder automatic.

1965 Chevrolet Impala 2-door hardtop blue with black interior. 327 V-8 automatic

1972 Chevrolet Malibu 4-door sedan dark blue w/ light blue interior

You are probably thinking of either a Rambler, or an AMC Rambler.

The first car I actually remember was an AMC Hornet Wagon. Ours was green though. I know they had an old Chevy Impala wagon before that, though my recollections of it are few.

But the first car I remember was my grandfather's Oldsmobile Toronado. I love that car! This isn't it but it is almost identical.

Sooo.. that Toronado is still sitting in a garage. Hasn't been started in 10 years, I think the engine is seized (last we remember anyways). My granfather's estate was never properly wrapped up so it still sits there. My father had just started the process of settling everything, and the Toronado was going to go to him. Unfortunately he just passed away, and now if I want it that car is my and my brothers. But we don't know whether it is worth it to throw a bunch of money into it to rebuild the engine. Unfortunately Toronados were not the most collectible of the cars.

What do you think?
