Re: What will you plant in your garden this Spring

definitely tomatoes... not for the red ones, but for the fried green tomatoes which I love to eat.

Re: What will you plant in your garden this Spring

Probably tomatoes (cherry and regular sized), green peppers, green beans, cantalope, and cosmos in the garden. I plan on having hanging wave petunias on the porch.

I also want to get a white rose bush.

Herbs at home on my balcony and maybe some spinach which is easy to grow...........but I have just come in from the garden at work and already the snowdrops and crocusses have started to flower in my garden there. Winter is coming to an end :D

Definitely tomatoes and basil! I need to go through my Burpee catalogue this weekend and make some decisions. The days are slowly getting longer and I've got Spring fever!

some herb that i can smoke

I work at a nursery and spring is just around the corner cause we just got our first shipment of roses in to plant. Around my house I'm looking to add some shrubs and what not.

The later part of last year, I planted over a hundred bulbs....They have been sprouting...yeah....

A few of them are blooming but I can't wait until they really get going...weeeeeeeeee

FYI: The koi pond is going to require a lot more work than taking care of your lawn. You will need to keep the water in balance and make sure the koi are taken care of properly. If you want to do it to reduce your work, it will not do that. If you want to do it to make your yard more beautiful, to appreciate the koi and nature.....|

My neighbors.

err... I mean I want to put in a koi pond this year. I see it as 100 sq. ft. of less lawn to mow.

I would like to remodel my waterfall. I'm still wondering if I should have it remodeled with real stone or if I should just have the finish and piping upgraded.

I have also been working on getting new garden gates. I have had the frames made. The next step I need to stain them and then hire a company to put them up. Then I'm going to install the stained glass panels that I had made for them. I had each of them designed so that they have frames for panels/windows within the gates.

Roses are my favorite ;) I don't usually grow vegetables. We're moving into a new house next month.

I also want to grow some climbers this year, there's a wall I'd like to see covered in clematis. And I have two variegated skimmia in post that need to be planted somewhere.

Re: What will you plant in your garden this Spring

I'm not sure what we'll be planting this year... We bought a new house (well, it's new to us!) and the back yard, around the pool area, has a lot of perennials planted there - so we'll see what it looks like. (It was fall when we bought the house, so we've never seen it in full bloom!)

In addition to 2 acres of freakin' grass to mow (what in gay hell was *I* thinking???) we have also have a Koi pond! I didn't think they were that much work... guess I'll have to buddy up to Metta and RestlessOne for some advice! The pond is tied to a waterfall up next to the house (in the middle of the garden) and there's a creek that runs back into the Koi pond... kinda cool! :)

We're thinking about putting in a vegetable garden, but not quite sure yet... From the sounds of things, my time here at JUB will be seasonal... 'cuz I'll be workin' my ass off in the yard all freakin' summer!!!! (Or soakin' in the pool with a cold one!) ..|

Re: What will you plant in your garden this Spring

If it doesn't make the neighbors wonder, I didn't plant it

Re: What will you plant in your garden this Spring

Odds are, whatever I plant will be perennials. I've just not got the time that I would like to have to garden like I used to do.

I'd like to plant some more lavender. It's so low maintenance, and even looks nice in the dead of winter.

Aside from that, I haven't made any real decisions, and I guess we're getting to the time to do that. My first daffodils are starting to poke their heads above the soil. That's always an encouraging sign!

Re: What will you plant in your garden this Spring

Well I already have strawberries planted and we always plant roma tomatoes and Burpee burpless cucumbers. Then when we get a surplus of tomatoes, I make fresh tomatoe sauce. Yum. However I think something is wrong with the soil or the plants are bad. The tomatoes will be nice green and small, then they start to ripen but they dont grow and when they turn red they go bad and fall off. I've never had that happen before.

They probably need feeding, that happened to me as well. I also take some of the leaves off so the plant can concentrate on the fruit instead of growing.

Re: What will you plant in your garden this Spring

Transplanting and spreading out my mint. Putting out a lot of parsley. More onions.

Re: What will you plant in your garden this Spring

^How ever did that happen. Isn't mint pretty much like a weed?

I put out one plant of something called "Lemon Mint", which I ended up not much caring for, and it became one of the most robust ground covers ever..

Pansies or Tulips!! That way I can tiptoe through my Tulips and sing to my hearts content...........whilst I have a Pansie flower in my hair!!
