with sunscreen, limited exposure isnt bad. tanning booths are worse.
there is something to be said for shielding yourself from UV, BUT UV is vital for retinoid (vitamin D) synthesis. 99% of people in western countries have suboptimal levels of vitamin D. thats why doctors recommend everyone take vitamin D supplements. and it doesnt matter if you work outdoors, cuz most people wear clothes which effectively block UV and prevent retinoid synthesis.
also, while light can dimerize thiamin (a nucleotide in DNA) and cause mutation, the enzyme that fixes the problem and monomerizes the thiamine dimer requires light to function. ironic, no?
