What would you wear in Saudi?

I am talking shirts here. Mainly how to pick them out as a Christmas Present.

My brother is going to Saudi Arabia for a few months after Christmas (thank god he is not in the military - it is a research project). What he wants for Christmas is some lightweight but long sleeve shirts. Yes I know this is in violation of all that is gay, but I really have no idea how to find or choose clothes. What kind of shirts do they wear in Saudi Arabia? Obviously he doesn't want to stand out too bad, but he needs something comfortable to work in. What should I be looking for?

Cotton, cotton, cotton! After living in Las Vegas for 18 years, you learn to wear what breathes. Can only get so cool in any desert, but you don't wnt to wear polyester unless you want to sweat buckets. You should check how cool it gets in the winter , tho, cuz people never realized in Vegas, winters are very cold, and they don't pack for it.
Was always fun watching them run from casino to casino since all they brought are shorts and tank tops.

I would think white, off white , tan and solid colors. sort of help you blend in. Not anything close to a military green or police blue........... Click on some Saudi websites, maybe some pic's of what the locals are wearing.

Winter in Saudi Arabia? Which part of the Kingdom? Is he dressing for the high mountains to be compared with Santa Fe? Is he dressing for the beach to be compared with San Diego? Is he traveling throughout the whole country? Details, please. Certainly, after Christmas, he needs to be prepared for some very cold nights (35 degrees F.) and a lack of heating systems. And, in bright sunlight, after 10 AM, he will want to shed that winter coat. Heavy pajamas for sure.

I don't know exactly where. I am almost positive it is going to be on the coast. He's a geophysicist, and well, the look for oil. That mush is obvious, due to corporate greed he can't say more - in fact he only knows where they are going, not who the ultimate company is. Yes, absolutely nuts if you ask me.

I don't think he is going to have a huge issue with Cold. He is a bit of a cold nut to be honest. I don't know whether he will be outside all the time or not - I am expecting them to be working out of an aircraft hanger most of the time.

If he is in the area where oil is already being produced, then nights will be cold and days will eventually get warm. A cement hangar floor is going to be cold all day. A hood on the coat or a stocking cap or both would be a wise choice. Also, sun glasses, even in winter. Tell him to remove his glasses immediately in a sand storm. They will scratch instantly.
