  • Hi Guest - Did you know?
Hot Topics is a Safe for Work (SFW) forum.

Whatcha gonna do with your tax return this year?

I have to file as I was on Obama care until July of last year, then I went on to MediCare. I have had to pay the feds since I went on Obama care back in 2014 when I retired, I have off set that by writing off expenses on my state return under the homestead property tax credit.
It will be a wash, I hope.

When I worked I claimed all possible dependents and payed as little as possible weekly as I see no reason to loan Washington D.C. any money. So my refunds were around 1200. dollars, I just stuck it in the bank.

I may get a new passport and do some travelling. I am good at travelling on a dime domestically within the USA. I flew to Tampa round-trip last month for about $60; I have bus tickets to North Carolina next month for about $15 round-trip. Bet I could find international bargains too.

Hookers and cocaine? :rotflmao:

What would hookers and cocaine want with my (or anyone's) tax return? To anybody but the ITS its merely a piece of paper.

Or did you mean the tax refund? That's a horse of a different color..... What I'm doing with mine is a secret.

Well, it's not wholly inaccurate to refer to one's refund as a return. After all, it is the return of the money taken from your payroll taxes.

I'm still ciphering. I could owe, break even, or get a return. If I don't get a refund, it will be the first time ever.

If anything comes my way, I will put it toward a new liner.

It is a refund of the money taken, over what should have been taken. That is why a Return is filed in the first place. Without filing of the Return no money will be refunded.

That has nothing to do with being a Marvin Milktoast. Marvin Milktoast is another way of saying panzy, pussy, pushover, wimp.... etc, etc.

I don't have any plans and don't know if it will be big or not, but I think that we need to make some major house repairs this coming year. If I don't spend it on that, then a nice vacation would be great.

Straight into my savings account. The more money I have to put down towards the purchase of my own house this summer the better. :-)

In the UK, a tax return is the form one completes annually for HMRC. Any overpayment would be repaid but would not be called a return.

Sadly, I'm not expecting a repayment this year.

Same in the US. What money comes back is the refund.

We’ll be paying bigly this year. We own several properties in New York and since we didn’t vote for the orange we’ll be paying....bigly
