Ok, Many of you reading may know I posted a thread encouraging people to buy unusual gifts for people from Oxfamunwrapped.....this is not, as one poster said, gifts you buy for people that leaving them feeling screwed over because THEY dont actually get anything, thats not the point!
I mean seriously how fucking materialistic do you need to be to want gifts that are JUST for you all the time? is it so much to ask that instead of buying someone an expensive box of chocolate and a card that isnt going to last, that you buy a water filter, a goat, farming supplies, an aids sufferer care kit.....anything! for someone suffering in another country, and for the person receiving....for gods sake do you only think of yourselves!? no you dont get a nice box of chocolates to stuff your face with, a CD you will eventually not listen to anymore or a card your going to throw away in a week, what you get (or should get) is a nice feeling knowing that your friend/family member chose to do something that would help someone worse off than either you. Have we seriously gotten so self absorbed and materialistic that we can't go without ONE PRESENT for the sake of helping someone else?
I know that some people who responded to that post slammed me for not supporting gay rights, I am here arent I? I DO support gay rights, I work for several charities and foundations across the board, but I noticed in another thread that many who answered dont do anything to help the cause themselves! how am I worse than that?
People go on about not getting any help or support.........do it yourselves! I have no patience or sympathy for people who HAVE the power and opportunities to do something to help themselves, and just DONT BOTHER, you can't expect anyone to want to help you if you won't even try to help yourselves.
So before you criticise me for what I do or dont do, look at yourself.....then see if you can still judge me.
