I like pie. Sometimes I can stand the spongy texture of cake...sometimes I just don't like the icing.

What Americans commonly call 'pie' is slightly different to what Brits usually mean by the term.
When I think 'pie' I think of a round meat pie for dinner, as in 'pie & chips' or 'steak pie with gravy'.
Pie for dessert is more likely to be called 'tart' over here, as in bakewell, or toffee, or apple, or rhubarb tart.
Anyway - I like both, but would probably side with cake more.
EDIT: 'Chips' of course in this case means what you would call 'fries', and not what we would call 'crisps'.

Can't decide. There are so many cake and spongy desserts that I can have fresh cream or custard with - but then I like my apple pie with ice cream, fresh cream or custard!

I guess a pie is more nutritious because it has more fruit and less flour.

I like cake way more because I think it tastes better, though I don't eat sweets that often anyway so it doesn't really matter all that much.

Pie....for the buttery crust and the refreshment of the fruit....so good. Cakes can be good. But pies are more reliably wonderful. I haven't had either in a long time, though.

Had a friend over to have dinner and I made carrot cake. It was very good., and he brought over 4th of July chocolate cupcakes. Two weeks ago I had two friends over and I made a Rum cake and flan which is neither cake of pie but it's

apple is the best to me....
I also can get into peach, cherry, and blueberry.....
Cream pies also rock....Sir Ron's favorite is toasted coconut cream....I also love banana cream, and chocolate silk pie.
The only pies that I really don't care for are ones with merangue. I love lemon or key lime pie, but the merangue comes off...(for some reason it grosses me out...)
