Who knew.

I wonder what life would be like if Canada and Westeros and Ruritania were real places...

Is Anne Murray still singing Snowbird?

What discount department store chain will replace Target?

I know that Canada has lost Kmart, Zellers, Woolco, Towers/Bonimart, Miracle Mart, and others that I am sure are missed.

I know that there are The Great Canadian Superstore, Army and Navy, and Giant Tiger, but are they large enough to compete with Walmart?

And what's going on with Sears Canada? I thought that they were in a much healthier state than their American counterpart.....

Yea, housing costs a fortune. In Saskatchewan, it used to be dirt cheap to live here, even in the city. In a rural area, it was even cheaper. Within the past 10 years though, the prices skyrocketed. A house that would have cost $70,000 in 2005 would be about $300,000 now.
Rent is terribly expensive too. It is very hard to find any place to rent that costs less than $1,000 a month, and if you do find one, it will be a run down dump in the ghetto. The housing boom caused a lot of problems for regular people who live paycheque to paycheque. I had a friend who had to move back in with his dad because his bachelor suite went from $200 to $600 a month (which I think is illegal, increasing the rent by that much all at once, and without warning too!). So many apartment building tenants got kicked out of their apartments so the owners could turn them into condos too.
In order to live on your own now, you need to be making a lot of money... a lot more than most younger people make.

This thread was started as a joke.

Nobody got it.

I totally got it. Canada isn't real. It's fictional. Like God, or romantic love, or non-racist white dudes from North America.
